Colorado Gives Day 2020 Is Next Tuesday

Next Tuesday, December 8th, our community will come together for Colorado Gives Day 2020. And we need YOU to join us

Whether your donation is $10 or $100, your choice to support The Arc will ensure individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families will continue to have access to the resources, education, and community they need to live their fullest lives.

Your generosity next week matters. All donations made before midnight on Colorado Gives Day get a boost from the $1 million Incentive Fund created by Community First Foundation and FirstBank.

Together, we will help people with I/DD achieve their dreams!

If you think you might forget to donate on December 8, you can set-up your gift in advance, but please make sure you select the “Colorado Gives Day” option on the donation page. CLICK HERE to make a donation. The Arc thanks you!

Webinar: Special Education In Charter Schools
Policy, Challenges, Opportunities, And The Impact Of COVID-19

Do you want to learn about how laws and regulations apply to special education in charter schools? It’s not too late to register for The Arc of the United States’ free webinar taking place in one week.

This webinar will focus on special education in charter schools—specifically how federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply, the challenges that exist in these unique environments, and the ways that charter schools are working to address those challenges.

The webinar will also cover how COVID-19 has impacted the ways charter schools approach educating students with disabilities during these challenging times.

Join in on Wednesday, December 9 at 2:00 PM MST. CLICK HERE to register.
State Board Of Human Services Needs You

The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) is looking to fill two vacant positions on its State Board of Human Services. One position is specifically for a person with a disability, a family member of someone with a disability, or a member of an advocacy group for persons with disabilities.

This is a perfect opportunity to influence the discussion, affect change, and make a difference in the administration of programs involving The Arc I/DD community and the disability community as a whole.

This rule-making body of nine holds monthly hearings (being held virtually during Covid) in part to adopt rules for programs and services administered by CDHS. Additionally, board members interact with CDHS staff, the general public, and other interested parties while learning about all of the CDHS programs.

The board position, appointed by the governor, would begin in March of 2021 and last for two years.

It is an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in advocating for the disability community through volunteering at the state level. To learn more, CLICK HERE. To apply, CLICK HERE.
Are You Ready To Let 2020 Go?

For many, 2020 has been a long, stressful, and unprecedented year. It is pretty safe to say that most of us are ready for a new year and some new, more positive energy. But what does that mean?

Have you ever walked into a room and it just didn’t feel, well, right? That is energy. Did you ever look up at a rainbow and felt tingly all over? That is energy. Energy is all around us and affecting us in ways we cannot begin to understand.

One way to change or shift energy is to release the negative to make room for the positive. This energy shift is precisely what Cheri Honeycutt wants to help you with – for FREE. She invites you to join her via Zoom for “Energy Clearing Gathering: Make Way for 2021”:

Sunday, December 13, 4:00 to 6:30 PM MST

This event will help you reflect on what you want to bring forward into 2021 and what you want to leave behind from 2020. Cheri asks you to join her to “honor what you’ve learned and release any lingering negative energy so you can glide smoothly into 2021.”

To register for this free event, CLICK HERE. For more information about Cheri Honeycutt, CLICK HERE.
