Hundreds Celebrate The Holidays With The Arc

The Arc rolled out the holiday cheer for our annual Holiday Open House on Monday, December 9. Hundreds of our closest friends turned out to celebrate the season with us at our spacious home in Denver West.

Adult advocate Jeanne Weis and her merry band of musicians entertained our guests with a festive blend of Celtic and holiday music, while Santa brought lots of joy to folks of all ages. We’d like to extend a hearty thanks to everyone who attended for their strong support of The Arc and our work on behalf of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Thank you for Supporting People First at the Bazaar

You are a holiday star!

Last week, community members gathered at DDRC for an Annual Holiday Bazaar. People First of Jeffco was in attendance to raise money for an upcoming conference as well as raise awareness about their organization.

Self-advocates made holiday arts & crafts to sell at the bazaar. Gifts included ornaments, potpourri, and holiday cards. A portion of the sales will support members of People First of Jefferson County in attending the 2020 Self-Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE) conference in Denver.

People First is an organization driven by self-advocates with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and it is sponsored by The Arc – Jefferson, Clear Creek & Gilpin Counties. Its focus is making positive changes in our community, building stronger self-advocates, and members supporting each other. To learn more about People First, click here .

Future Planning and Aging Caregivers Webinar

The Arc of Colorado is hosting a webinar for those looking to learn more about future planning and aging caregivers on Thursday, December 18th, at 6 p.m. MST.

Attendees will learn about and acquire resources regarding future planning and information about state systems. The webinar will be recorded for attendees who would like to listen to the session at a later date.

The Importance of Post-secondary Education Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities.

Thinking about educational opportunities post-high school? Join The Arc of the U.S. to learn more about the importance of post-secondary education opportunities. People with I/DD have historically had limited access to higher education. Now, that is changing.

Today there are 280 program across the country that welcome students with I/DD. In this webinar you will learn about different programs around the country, funding, and the movement to create more inclusive college campuses.
