Building Mountain Connections

On Tuesday of last week, our Outreach Team headed west to the historic, quaint town of Central City. There they met with the Gilpin County Board of Commissioners. The goal was to talk about the impact of The Arc’s work, to highlight the abilities of the people we serve, and to build connections with the county’s community leaders.

The Board and other officials were welcoming, open, and friendly. The Outreach Team took the opportunity to learn all they could about how to be a resource for this community. It was clear that the Board was interested in learning more about The Arc’s work and ideas for an even more inclusive community.

Although our chapter has been providing advocacy to Gilpin and Clear Creek Counties for years, the Outreach Team’s connection is new. We look forward to continued collaboration with leaders in the mountain communities that we serve, and we can’t wait for our next visit up the hill!
