We're Jammin' During DD Awareness Month!

Make sure you listen to Jammin 101.5 this month, because our friends at the radio station are once again helping us support people with I/DD. They have graciously produced another Public Service Announcement (PSA) for us—this time, in honor of DD Awareness Month. Amanda Gillenwater, experienced self-advocate from Arvada, is the voice for our latest PSA, which you can listen to by clicking here.

Amanda speaks about why it’s so important for our community to LEARN THE TRUTH about people with I/DD. She says, “We are capable, talented, and have lots to give!” When people realize this truth, there is naturally more respect and inclusion of people with disabilities. At the radio station last week, DJ Slim Rodriguez worked with Amanda to get just the right sound and put the final PSA together. Afterwards, they celebrated by performing a double moonwalk down the hallway.

Thank you, Slim, Max Media Denver, and Jammin 101.5, for supporting The Arc, and for helping us make our community a more welcoming place for people of ALL abilities! Click here to learn more about DD Awareness Month on our website.
