Farewell, Genni
After 13 wonderful years with The Arc, we say farewell to Genni Williams, our Communications & eContent Director. Genni has had a long and varied career with us, gradually taking on additional responsibilities as the organization grew and had new needs. Starting as a grant writer, she soon dove into areas like setting up our first computer network and doing our bookkeeping, as well as designing all of The Arc’s materials. In more recent years, Genni led our fundraising efforts, facilitated our Mobilizing Families program, and has been instrumental in our website development.
Genni’s last day in the office will be Friday, November 2nd, although she will facilitate the last two sessions of the Mobilizing Families Series after that date. Though we will miss her, we wish her the very best as she moves into this new opportunity. Genni will be working at the Denver office of a California-based communications firm that contracts with global technology companies. As she said, she’ll be “organizing, writing and designing,” all of which are things she loves to do. She will miss us too, so don’t be too surprised if you see her at the Holiday Open House or Annual Picnic!

Submit Your Application for Inclusive Higher Education Now
|
|
Are you or someone you know interested in inclusive higher education services for the 2019-20 school year? Each school offering these services has their own application process. Students interested in enrolling in these schools and receiving inclusive supports should submit an application to the service provider on each campus (listed below).
Elevate at Arapahoe Community College: The application will be available in January. It consists of an application packet gathering general information, an essay about why the student wants to attend college, two letters of recommendation (one personal, one professional), and documentation of an intellectual or developmental disability. Qualified candidates will be invited to campus for an admissions interview and all finalists will also participate in a full day on campus experience (sit in on two classes, participate in a campus life activity, etc).
University of Northern Colorado GOAL: Students/families can ask for an application at any time by emailing
[email protected]. Applications should be submitted by the end of January. The application consists of a student application, parent application, student living questionnaire, teacher recommendation form, transcripts, disability documentation, and interview.
Office of Inclusive Services at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs: The application, which can be found on the Office's website, will be available in November. Along with the application, the following is required: documentation of related services the student receives, the most recent Individualized Education Plan (IEP), most recent educational/behavioral evaluations, and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or service provider. Interviews will be set up once applications are received.
