Join Our Campaign for Advocacy

Advocacy is the cornerstone of our work. Every day, our advocates work with individuals and family members to resolve incredibly complex issues like:

  • Homelessness
  • Lack of educational supports
  • Transportation
  • Abuse/sexual assault
  • Employment
  • Financial exploitation

Your donation between now and December will help The Arc continue to help people solve problems and find their way forward. Click here to learn how individual advocacy helped Sarah.

Boy Scouts Troop for Children with Disabilities

Do you know a child with a disability who is interested in joining a Boy Scouts troop? Join Scouts BSA Troop 5280!

Boys and girls with disabilities from the ages of 5 - 17 are welcome to join. Beyond that, Boy Scouts of America will consider a Scout with developmental disabilities or with a severe physical challenge to join or remain a Scout BSA past 17 years-old. It is their goal to greatly increase the number of boys and girls with special needs into Scouting.

The Troop starts boys and girls on the Scouts BSA trail and works to build self-esteem, social skills and Scouting skills. The Troop follows the traditional Scouting outdoor program including: camping, fishing and hiking, as well as Rank Advancement and working on Merit Badges. Troop 5280 tailors the needs for each Scout’s advancement to the Scout’s individual strengths and challenges.

Troop meetings are the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at Saint Peter Lutheran Church, 9300 E Belleview Ave, Greenwood Village, CO 80111, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.

For more information go to the Boy Scouts of America Denver Area Council's Special Needs Scouting webpage.

Free Parents Encouraging Parents (PEP) Conferences

Parents Encouraging Parents (PEP) Conferences are designed for parents and professionals of children with disabilities, aged birth to 21.

Decades of research show that the participation of families in their child’s education, through specific coordinating between home and school, results in improved outcomes (Jeynes, 2012).  PEP Conferences are designed to promote family and school partnerships that are essential in supporting students with disabilities and their families in schools and the community.

PEP brings parents and professionals together by sharing ideas, discussing concerns, celebrating successes and obtaining information related to parenting, educating and partnering to support student learning.  PEP Conferences are offered at no cost to attendees.

2019 - 2020 PEP Dates:
1.     October 10 - 12, 2019  - Fort Collins, CO

Hey Lucky's Market Shoppers!

Did you know that right now you can support The Arc while grocery shopping? That's right, at Lucky's Market on Wadsworth!

From now through November 9th, we’re one of three Lucky's Market Bags for Change partners.

All you need to do is bring your reusable grocery bags and at checkout the cashier will give you a wooden dime for each. Before leaving the store you’ll see the Bags for Change display (pictured). Just drop your dimes in the slot with our name. Then, in November, Lucky’s Market will add up what the community has donated, and make a donation to us for double the amount!

Be sure to stop by Lucky's Market, and don't forget to bring your bags!
