PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
The renovation work at S t. Philip Neri – Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in North Omaha has been completed. The renovation included the creation of a Narthex in back of the existing Nave as well as the addition of a new LULA elevator creating ADA access to the Parish Center located in the lower level of the Church. The new Narthex wall is a replication of the Sanctuary wall, which is tied to the existing walls with glu-laminated beams, thus creating an open ceiling effect. The main level also has a new Chapel located next to Sanctuary. To better accommodate parishioners, two ADA restrooms have been added. One is available on the main level and the second can be found on the lower level adjacent to the existing restrooms.

The Parish Center has been completely remodeled and enlarged as the result of the removal of an existing stage. The previous stage area is now separated from the dining room with a folding partition, which provides space for a private conference room. The renovated Parish Center has new carpet, paint, ceilings, and lighting that produces a more comfortable and welcoming gathering space. The existing Kitchen adjacent to the Parish Center has been enlarged. As part of this work, the lower level has also been equipped with fire sprinklers and updated mechanical equipment.

St. Philip Neri - Blessed Sacrament is enjoying their renovated spaces and looks forward to years of fellowship in their updated spaces.

Wayne State College’s Carlson Natatorium has not been used for several years as a natatorium. Wayne State College decided to convert the existing natatorium into a new Indoor Athletic Complex. The complex will be used as a practice space for all sports that are offered by the college. The balcony area will provide space for coaches and assistant coaches offices, restrooms, and storage.

A netting system with two different types of netting and two different types of indoor synthetic grass are going to be utilized. Golf became the driving factor for the incorporation of two types of synthetic grass within the facility. For sports like football, baseball, and softball, a turf with a longer pile is more appropriate, while golf necessitates the use of a shorter pile. By coordinating with the college athletic department on the various areas to be used by each sport, we developed a design solution that would accommodate the proposed functions.

The pool in the building will be left in place. In order to create a structurally sound floor for the new activities, we will use engineered structural foam to fill this void.

The Indoor Athletic Complex Project was recently awarded to the apparent low bidder and the remodeling will likely start later this month. We look forward to working with the contractor on this very important project for WSC, so that the campus can take advantage of this underutilized building and the college teams will have more space to cultivate their talents.
