PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
SCHOOL BONDS PASSING BRINGS BUILDING GROWTH
The Omaha Public School Board, at their meeting on January 7, 2019, named the new elementary school, designed by Jackson-Jackson & Associates, Inc., Gifford Park Elementary School. The new 69,000 sq. ft. two-story building being constructed by Lueder Construction Company is approximately 60% complete. The $12 million two-story building will be completed by August of 2019, ready for classes to start in the fall. The school is designed to accommodate 450 students in Pre- Kindergarten-5 th grade. At opening, the school will accommodate Kindergarten through 6 th grade, until completion of Phase II of the Bond Issue that is currently underway.

A quality educational environment for students and staff was foremost in our design approach with safety as a prime concern in the design and construction of the building. Storm shelters are provided for all students and staff, security access at all exterior doors is provided by card access devices and the front entry ingress will pass through the main office to control access to the building during the day. All classroom doors are designed with locks operable from the inside of the classroom.
Jackson - Jackson & Associates, Inc. was selected for the design of Elkhorn Public School District's 5th middle school building and site improvements. The building size is projected to be 155,000 square feet and to accommodate approximately 750 students, grades 6-8 with expansion to 900 students. The School District anticipates opening the new middle school in the fall of the 2021-22 school year. The following consultants will be teaming-up with JJA on this project: Alvine Engineering, InfraStructure, LLC., Building Cost Consultants, Inc (BCC), and Big Muddy Workshop.

At the beginning of last month, JJA and Alvine Engineering met with Elkhorn Public Schools to review the 50% construction documents for the new two-story middle school. During the meeting, the design of the school was reviewed as well as our first round of details for the new building. This month we also met with Elkhorn Public Schools for our second round of interior materials review, which included review of all the finishes throughout the building from flooring to paint colors.

These interior materials photos may look confusing, but you are only seeing part of it! We work diligently to find the right materials for each Owner as well as options from various manufacturers to allow for competitive bidding. We are quickly approaching our next review with Elkhorn Public Schools, where we will review the drawings, followed by a full review of the interior and exterior materials with the board. During the next few weeks our 3D model of the building will be transformed into full color images that we can share with the district and our contacts. Exterior and Interior renderings coming soon!
