Jam Comics

Join other artists and make jam comics.

If you've hit a creative block, drawing with others could be the cure. Join other artists and make jam comics. Jam comics is a group effort to tell sequential art stories. First one person draws a panel and then trades it with other artists. You keep taking turns drawing panels until the story is complete. It's chaotic and fun.

2026 CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION

The Office of Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari is excited to invite high school students across our district to showcase their creativity in this year’s Congressional Art Competition and we would love your help spreading the word!

Each spring, the Congressional Institute hosts this nationwide visual arts competition to celebrate and uplift young artists. Since its launch in 1982, more than 650,000 students from across the country have participated, making it one of the most prestigious student art competitions in the nation.

Hosted by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the competition is made possible through close collaboration with local art teachers. Students submit their artwork to our office, where a panel of district artists selects the winning piece.

What’s in it for students?

The winning artist receives local recognition and is honored at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., hosted by the Congressional Institute. Their artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one full year. In addition, a runner-up and select entries may be showcased in our District Office.

Submission Deadline: April 6

Submission Link: https://bit.ly/AZ03ArtComp

Submission Instructions: https://ansari.house.gov/services/congressional-art-competition

We encourage you to share this opportunity with your students—especially those with a passion for visual arts. Participating is a meaningful way for students to gain recognition, confidence, and exposure for their work on a national stage.

If you have any questions or would like flyers, guidelines, or other materials to share, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for supporting student creativity and helping us celebrate the incredible talent in our district!

LIVING BLACK WORLDS | FEB 27-28, 2026

What an incredible journey. We are still vibrating from the energy of the Living Black Worlds exhibit!

This showcase was more than just an event; it was a profound celebration of the joy, resilience, and the vast spectrum of culture found throughout the Black Diaspora. From the stories told on canvas to the connections made in the room, the spirit of our community was on full display.

Heartfelt Thanks

• To the Black River Life team & Phoenix Center for the Arts staff: Thank you for your tireless dedication. Executing a vision of this scale takes immense heart and hustle—you created a space where we could truly see ourselves.

• To our featured Artists: Thank you for trusting us with your brilliance. Your talent is the heartbeat of this exhibit, and your voices are essential to the cultural landscape.

• To the Community: To everyone who walked through the doors, engaged with the art, and brought your energy—thank you for showing up.

We came together to celebrate the beauty of the Diaspora, and we left more connected than ever.

LATINO FASHION WEEK SHOW | FEB 28, 2026

We Were Proud to Support Latino Fashion Week Arizona!

Phoenix Center for the Arts was thrilled to serve as the Pipe & Drape Sponsor for Latino Fashion Week Arizona (LFW AZ)—a dynamic, community-centered celebration of Latino culture, creativity, and leadership.

LFW AZ made major waves in the local fashion scene this year, from their model casting on January 17, 2026, to their exclusive high‑fashion showcase on February 28, 2026 at Barcoa PHX. Their mission to uplift Latina/o designers, entrepreneurs, and models aligned beautifully with our commitment to empowering arts and culture across Phoenix.

We were grateful to be included in this exciting movement—thank you, LFW AZ, for inviting us to be part of your vision and impact.

And… stay tuned. A little birdie told us that their next LFW AZ experience may be happening right here at our Downtown Campus.

You can still follow their journey at @lfw.arizona for ongoing updates and inspiration!
