VOICE OF THE GAVEL

Hello Brother and Sister Artisans;

   I hope everyone had a fantastic time at our annual Ocean City Family Weekend. The weather was good and the rain held out until Sunday. We were treated at the St. Johns pool party to pizza, hot dogs, snacks and water ice. Our DJ's, Dave Fieldhouse and Elayna Werner did a great job in keeping all of us entertained by the pool. Following the pool party we headed next door to Playland Castaway Cove for 2 hours of rides and fun. Both Junior and Senior Artisans enjoyed the many amusement rides the pier had to offer. We had nine girls competing for the title of Miss Artisan this year. Miss Northwestern, Abigail Flanagan, won the title of Miss Artisan with Miss Tri-County, Milan Peele, finishing first runner up and Miss St. Johns,Victoria Simmons, finishing as second runner up. Elin Anderson, who represented Philadephia #1, won the Joan Geary scholarship award. This years competition was really tough and I would not have wanted to be a judge. All the girls did an outstanding job! A big shout-out and thank you to all the workers who helped make this weekend a huge success.

   We have a lot of events coming up this Fall starting with our Halloween Party in October, Christmas party in December and finishing the year with the M.E.M.A. New Year cruise to the Bahamas. All these events, and more, are posted on the Artisan website.

   Our 150th Anniversary celebration will be held on April 30th 2023. This will be a terrific event with several entertainment acts and a delicious meal being served up at the Pennsauken Country Club. Make sure to sign up as soon as possible because tickets are limited. I hope to see you at the upcoming meetings and events.

Have a great summer!

Fraternally,

Carla Werner - M.E.M.A.

M.E. SUPERINTENDENT LETTER

Hello Juniors!

      We were finally able to hold the annual St. Johns Easter Egg Hunt after a two year break due to Covid-19 restrictions. Everyone enjoyed attending this great event. Not only were the Juniors able to hunt for eggs they were treated to pizza and time in our game room. On May 1st we had our first Mothers Day Junior craft activity. The Junior Artisans painted a flower pot to give their Mom, Grandmother or special person in their life. All the children worked very hard and really showed off their creativity especially when it came to decorating their cards and cupcakes. The Ocean City weekend was a huge success with plenty of fun activities had by all who attended this fun filled weekend. The St. Johns pool was well attended and was a great way to spend Saturday afternoon before we went to Playland Castaway Cove Amusement Pier to enjoy the amusement rides.

      We have a lot of fun events coming up over the next few months; please read your Artisan, the website and Facebook page to know when to order your tickets. I hope to see everyone in the Fall, enjoy the summer break!

                                                                                                 Fraternally yours,

                                                                                                  Helen Szafran, M.E.S.
