Cue Career wants to thank the Alper Family Foundation for their generous support of our Association of the Year Award and Student Program of the Year Award.

The winners are Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI)

and Calculus Roundtable

Each entity was awarded $1,000.

ICPI won for their Hardscaping Is campaign.

Calculus Roundtable won for their Diversity in STEM program. Their Diversity in STEM matches college students of color majoring in STEM fields with middle and high school students in underserved communities.

With many industries facing a shortage of workers and a skills gap, associations can play a critical role in addressing workforce development.

The Association of the year award was for the association making workforce development a priority. ICPI had a multifaceted approach teaching both

17-20-year-olds and their parents about their industry.

We all know you land your 1st job and 1st internship by who you know. The Student program of the year award was for a program focusing not only on tutoring but also on mentoring and building social capital. Calculus Roundtable has a unique approach.

Hardscaping Is was developed by ICPI as its workforce development campaign. ICPI hired Halstead Media Group, a landscape/hardscape industry marketing firm, to develop the campaign. The campaign launched in October 2019 at Hardscape North America. ICPI staff, in partnership with staff at the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA), developed the Hardscaping Is website.

Coming this spring is a student video contest aimed at students in programs teaching ICPI’s Concrete Paver Installer course as part of their landscape construction/horticulture curriculum. Winners will receive cash prizes with matching cash prizes to their schools to help in purchasing equipment and supplies.
