We celebrated the grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking an exciting milestone for another growing local business in our community.

The Fifth Annual Federal Way Pride Festival was hosted at Town Square Park on Saturday afternoon. The festival celebrated the City's LGBTQIA+ community and included performances, booths, music, food trucks, and more!
"Federal Way is a vibrant and diverse tapestry, and our LGBTQ+ neighbors are an integral thread in the fabric that makes our city strong," said Mayor Jim Ferrell. "As we continue working to build a community where everyone feels welcome, events like Pride remind us of the importance of coming together in celebration and support of one another."

The Federal Way National Little League held a groundbreaking celebration for new turf fields at the FWNLL Complex on Southwest Campus Drive last week. The new fields were made possible through the support of King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer and additional grant funding.
This investment will provide local athletes with a safe, high-quality place to play for years to come.

The Federal Way Farmers Market is moving on up! Beginning on Saturday, Sept. 5, the Market will be held on the Civic Plaza next to the Federal Way Performing Arts & Event Center, just up the steps from the current location on South 316th Street.
The Market is open every Saturday through Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at its new location on South 316th Street between Town Square Park and the Federal Way Performing Arts & Event Center.
Whether you're stocking up on fresh ingredients, grabbing lunch, or simply enjoying a summer morning, the Federal Way Farmers Market is the perfect place to shop local, support small businesses, and connect with the community.

The Federal Way Diversity Commission and the City of Federal Way are excited to host the next iteration of community connection with the Federal Way Community Festival on Saturday, Aug. 8. from 12-4 p.m. at Town Square Park.
Federal Way will come alive with the sights and sounds of one of the most diverse populations in the region as we celebrate the cultures and communities that make Federal Way a vibrant place to live, work, and play.
This family-friendly, free festival will feature kids’ activities, food vendors, an entertainment stage, and exhibitors sharing information about employment opportunities, health care access, financial and educational services, and a variety of other business resources, nonprofit organizations, and area craft makers.

Keith Pon Selected as FWPD Officer
of the Year

The Federal Way Police Department Officer of the Year award recognizes an officer whose performance, professionalism and dedication represent the highest standards of the department. Throughout 2025, Officer Keith Pon consistently demonstrated those qualities, standing out through his exceptional productivity, initiative, and well-rounded performance.
While many officers excel in one area of police work, it is rare to see someone perform at a high level across every aspect of patrol. Traffic enforcement, report writing, criminal citations, DUI enforcement, and field interview contacts all compete for an officer's time and attention.
In 2025, Officer Pon led the patrol division in traffic infractions, writing more citations than the entire Traffic Unit combined. Despite his strong focus on proactive traffic enforcement, he also continued to excel throughout his assigned district.
He also led his squad in reports taken and criminal citations issued, demonstrating an exceptional ability to balance proactive policing with responding to calls for service and conducting thorough investigations. His performance reflected not only outstanding productivity, but also consistency, versatility, and a strong commitment to serving the Federal Way community.
Officer Pon's accomplishments made him a deserving recipient of the department's 2025 Officer of the Year award. His dedication to every aspect of patrol work reflects the professionalism and service that define the FWPD, and we congratulate him on this well-earned recognition.
| | Night Construction for Street Preservation Projects Underway | | |
Night construction work is currently ongoing at two major locations in Federal Way: South 320th Street and 21st Avenue Southwest. Night work has been selected because it allows the project to be completed more safely and efficiently than daytime construction.
During the day, traffic volumes are significantly higher, making it difficult to close lanes without causing major congestion, longer travel delays, and increased safety risks for both drivers and construction crews.

The Pacific Bonsai Museum is hosting Branch Out, a fundraiser in support of the museum on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 1-4 p.m.
Branch Out features a stunning selection of Museum bonsai to view and enjoy, plus live jazz by the Michael Glenn Trio.
The afternoon comes alive with performances by a variety of musical performers and a program hosted by dynamic auctioneer Matt Lorch.
It’s a celebration of living art, culture, music, and nature, all benefiting Pacific Bonsai Museum.
