TRUSTEES CORNER

We are having a beautiful summer this year in Concord! The great weather has allowed us to get the necessary roadwork done on the following roads: Jamie, Kenneth, Brooklyn, Huntoon, Rogers, and Gray. The Service Department will continue with concrete slab repairs and crack sealing for the remainder of the summer. Providing the weather cooperates, these projects should all be completed by mid-August. Thanks to our service crew for all they have done to move these projects along. Prouty Road widening and resurfacing is also nearing completion. We would like to thank the Lake County Engineer’s Office for a successful project.

We are looking forward to Fire Station #1 opening soon. We are in the final phases of wrapping up this construction. The crew is putting finishing touches on the interior of the building with cabinets, countertops and doors. We are sorting through a significant delay of the generator and evaluating how this delay will impact receiving our certificate of occupancy. Once all major phases are complete, the contractor will begin addressing items on the punch list.

Additionally, the survey was completed for the waterlines planned for Girdled Road (west end) and Auburn Road. Engineers are currently working on the design plans. After a thorough review of the plans, the project will be ready to go out for bid in Mid-November. The sanitary sewer extension project on Auburn Road will be completed by the 2nd week in August. The waterlines planned for Girdled Road between Auburn and Hermitage and Auburn Road from Stonewycke to Ravenna will complete water loops to enhance safety by adding fire hydrants and will bring needed water to residents with poor well quality. This project was funded with ARPA funds from both Concord and the Lake County Commissioners.

While the summer days cannot last forever, and the school bells will be ringing soon, we would like to wish all students, teachers and administrators a wonderful back-to-school! A new school year means new beginnings, new adventures and challenges. Good luck to all! As Benjamin Franklin said, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”

Have a wonderful August!
