Service for Walter Edwards Postponed
The celebration of life for Walter Edwards, scheduled for this Saturday, August 7, has been postponed until further notice.

Here is the note from Iris Carroll Edwards"Because of the upsurge in the coronavirus in Florida and especially in Marion County, my family and I have decided to postpone the memorial service for our husband and father, Walter Edwards, until such time as we can all safely gather. The outpouring of love and friendship still supports us as we navigate our way through these days."
Pandemic Update
Given the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in Marion County, we wanted to share with you an update on our protocols for the Covid-19 Pandemic.
You may or may not be aware that as of last Friday, July 30, Marion County reported 1,881 new cases of COVID-19 over the previous seven days, with a 24.5% test positivity. More alarming was a reported 148 individuals in the COVID-19 wards at our local hospitals, 144 of whom were unvaccinated. On Wednesday, August 4, that number jumped to 217 admissions for COVID-19, 212 of whom were unvaccinated.
Last week, the CDC issued these new guidelines regarding masks for those who have been fully vaccinated. This largely involves the highly contagious delta variant, which is able to multiply in the nasal passages of vaccinated persons and usually does not cause disease, but can transmit the virus to other persons who can become ill. For this reason, both the CDC and the Florida Conference have recommended going back to wearing a mask in close spaces, which includes church services.
Because of the new CDC guidelines and our local numbers, beginning this Sunday, August 8, we strongly encourage masks for everyone entering our facilities until the number of infections in Marion County have dramatically decreased.
Thank you for helping us love our neighbors as we care for the most vulnerable among us.
