August 12 - Bull Run Projects and Willamette Water Supply Projects: Will cover several sub-projects of two major water supply projects. Portland’s Bull Run presentations will include a project overview; communications strategies; pilot treatment plant findings; a preliminary plant design update; and preparing the distribution system for the conversion to a filtered supply. Topics from the Willamette Water Supply project include a six-years-in update on the project; how lessons from the Tohoku earthquake were applied; and an evaluation of risk factors for integrating a new supply. There will also be a piece on applying lessons from mega-projects to midi-, mini- and micro-projects.

October 28 - Asset and Data Management: Will cover asset management, including using analytics to make maintenance decisions, developing an asset management system for a new water supply system; maintaining distribution system piping; and updating pressure zones. The data management topics include building a data strategy for a utility; preparing an organization to move to digital water; managing and optimizing data and machine learning to improve system operation; and planning for the future.

We are very excited to announce that after two years of waiting we are finally having an in-person officer training for section volunteers!

Find out what being an officer of a section committee or subsection entails: what are your responsibilities as an officer and what tools are available to you to keep our members engaged, informed and excited about our association!

While we would hope that everyone would attend in-person, we know that some of you may have concerns about gathering together or do not have the support from your employers to travel. On our registration form there is a box for you to check if you would like to attend virtually. If there is enough interest from all of you, we can provide this service. It won't be the same as meeting in-person but its the next best option. Just check the box on the registration and let us know.

ORWARN Conference In Newport October 20-22

Don't miss the 2021 ORWARN Conference this October at beautiful Agate Beach in Newport, Oregon!

Prepare/Respond/Recover includes planning for different scenarios. At this conference there will be presentations on a wide variety of topics applicable to drinking water and wastewater systems including Cybersecurity risk information and tabletop exercise. Expect a couple of presentations on how to prepare a Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) that will be aimed at systems from small community to large utilities.

Southern Oregon Subsection Water And Wastewater Virtual Short School September 21-23

Registration is Now Open

The Southern Oregon Subsection is pleased to announce that they are once again offering a strong, affordable educational program in Southern Oregon. We aim to provide up to 2.0 CEU's for both Water and Wastewater Operations.

With support from water and wastewater operators from across the region, the 2019 school was a tremendous success. This will be our seventh short school in 13 years and this year's event promises an even better educational program, vendors and networking opportunities galore!
