For our residents who are teachers or students, August means trying to squeeze in those last few days of summer! We would like to wish all of the teachers, administrators and students well as they go back to school this month! We are hoping for a happy, healthy and safe year for everyone. Be sure to make the most of these summer days by taking some time on the 5th to enjoy the wonderful "Celebrate Concord” event (details below) that our recreation department has created for the community. It has been great to be able to come together again as a community and see smiles and enjoy great music during our summer concert series. We hope to see you at the Gazebo on Thursday for the last concert of the summer and fun festivities for all!

Celebrate Concord Township!

August 5th is our final summer concert and we're amping it up! Get your Polka on with Patty C and the guys from 6-8pm, followed by the Awards Ceremony announcing the 2021 Citizen of the Year and two scholarship award winners.

Afterward, DJ Ben Ricci takes the stage around 8pm playing popular tunes for karaoke and taking requests for dedications. Throughout the evening, kids are welcome to enjoy a special children's activity area. Everyone is invited to peruse the gift-packed Chinese raffle baskets and grab dinner from Frank's Brats and the Fired Up Taco Truck. Satisfy your sweet tooth with a treat from East Coast Custard and kettle corn! The evening ends with a BANG after the raffle drawing with our annual fireworks display around 10pm!

Bicentennial News

Concord Township Celebrates our Bicentennial in 2022!

A variety of fun and informative events are being planned to celebrate our special year! There are many opportunities to sponsor an event in 2022 as well as volunteer.

In honor of our Bicentennial, an Images of America Book on Concord Township history was written and is now available for sale, along with our Concord Township History Coloring Book for kids of all ages.

Books are available at the Community Center (7671 Auburn Road) and Town Hall (7229 Ravenna Road).

Concord Township Cemetery

DID YOU KNOW?

The 1965 excavation work for the expansion has been completed. The expansion area needs to settle and the lots pinned. It will take approximately a year to a year and a half for the lots to be available.
All plantings in the cemetery must be approved by the Cemetery Sexton.
Concord Township reserves the right to maintain plantings, which may include trimming or removal if deemed necessary and will not be replaced.
Cemetery approved plantings are to be located in front of your marker; anything outside of your lot (behind a monument or in some cases the side) belongs to someone else. Plantings should not impede the ability to get equipment through.
Perennials are to be maintained yearly:
If the perennial is a spring or early-summer bloomer, divide in the fall.
If the perennial blooms in the late summer or fall, divide in the spring.
We do not recommend you place sentimental items on the graves as they may get lost, stolen or damaged.

Fire Department

Department Recognized

University Hospitals Cardiologist Dr. Stefano and Geoffrey Patty, UH Geauga Chest Pain Coordinator recently presented Concord Township Fire Department with a TIM Award (Time is Muscle) in recognition of excellence in Prehospital STEMI Care. STEMI is a “full blown” heart attack caused by the complete blockage of a heart artery. Properly understanding, detecting and quick access to treatment for STEMI is crucial in minimizing heart muscle loss and loss of life. Prior to the award presentation, we were able to review with the UH Cardiac team how our early interventions affected the patient outcome. We are grateful for this ongoing training and recognition that our dedication does impact so many lives.

Service Department

The Service Department is busy this time of year performing many different maintenance and roadway improvements. At the beginning of the construction season, the 2021 road resurfacing projects got underway. Cherry Hill subdivision along with Fay Rd. Palmer Rd., Tulip Way, and Hazel Dr. received resurfacing. These projects are coming to completion in the beginning of August. The Service Department crews are out performing concrete slab replacement throughout the Township and making repairs to curb inlets along the way. Ditch maintenance and many culvert replacements have taken place and continue through the construction season. The Township asphalt roads are receiving preventative maintenance of crack sealing to help prolong the life of the asphalt roadway. During this year’s wet summer months the Service Department has been working on maintaining storm water runoff and working with the Lake County Storm Water Department to improve drainage throughout the Township. In addition to the road repairs and drainage improvements, the Service Department maintains the parks and baseball fields for the Concord Baseball teams. This year has been challenging battling Mother Nature, but had a successful season of baseball. The service department is looking forward to the fall baseball season.

As the summer comes to a close and we begin to prepare for the fall the Service Department will offer the yard waste drop off beginning September 13, 2021. The yard waste drop off is located at the Service Department. Residents are able to drop off their yard waste in paper biodegradable bags, no plastic, to the material bin provided in our yard next to the cell phone tower. The yard waste drop off will remain open until November 30, 2021. The hours of operation of the drop off are Monday – Friday from 7:30am – 2:30pm. Please note the drop off is closed on holidays observed by the Township.
