Moved By The Moon: The Autumn Equinox
Aligning the Cosmos and the Earth Within Ourselves During the Harvest Moon Cycle |
There is a formal start to the Autumn Season that is kicked off by the Autumnal Equinox. However, this particular equinox was infused with things that are special and affect us energetically. We experienced the Harvest Moon AND a lunar eclipse last Wednesday (photo courtesy of my friend, Steve Malins, with a way better camera than mine, in New Mexico.)
I was lucky enough to be near the ocean, performing an Equinox ritual in the form of directional and archetypal grounding as I call to the heavens to ground me within myself both directionally (north, south, east, west) and within the archetypes that we all carry: inner warrior, inner nurturer, inner child and inner sage.) I turn to the north for protection and safety. I am my own safety. I turn to the south for comfort and ease. I am my own comfort. I turn to the west for viewing the world as new in each moment through the eyes of a child. I am my own wonderment. I turn to the east for the wisdom & knowledge. I am my own sage. This grounding connects us not only to the energy of the earth, so focused on the sun and false energy sources being extracted from her; but, also to the cosmos and the shadow energy of the moon. And this particular moon cycle is about recognizing patterns that no longer serve us: toxic relationships, toxic environments, toxic thoughts, and toxic belief systems. I want to be clear: I'm not taking aim at your faith or religion. Its time to ask into what you believe to be true of yourself. The Sun tells us everything we think we see. The Moon is all about the Shadow...a reflection of who you are...but is it all true, what you believe about you?
As we take stock of our lives in this time of Harvest, what needs to be examined so that we know what we value, giving gratitude to all of the abundance in our lives, and spiritually evolve in the midst of a material world that is rapidly affecting our lives to feel nothing but lack? What do we really need to be happy in this world? Is it more money? A bigger house? Newer car? Do you identify with your stuff? What would happen if all the material stuff disappeared?
Or, upon evaluation, do you need more time? Time with friends. Time with family. Time to tend to our communities. Do you need more space? Space to think. Space to feel and process your emotions. Space to be with the people you love the most. Do you need more energy? Energy to finally focus on the things that mean the most to you but have no energy for. Do you sacrifice your wants and needs for the sake of obligatory, transactional relationhips & interactions? A good place to start doing Shadow work is to ask into all the "Have-To's". You know the drill...I have to go to..., I have to work here because..., I have to be away from my family because..., I have to take care of...whatever the end of that sentence is, ask yourself "Is this true?" Is this equitable, meaning do you get something out of the exchange of energy? Is this sustainable or is there an inevitable breakdown of the body, when the mind won't let go of what it believes to be true? Your body is designed to alert you of problems with your mind and your spirit as well. It's a constant feedback loop that we tend to ignore until it finds a symptom we have to stop and pay attention to. Check in with your body, but don't stop at the biological reasoning for your symptoms. The Moon encourages us to look in the dark places, be easy with ourselves, practice forgiveness of self and others, and love all parts of ourselves without judgment. As we move towards the New Moon we are encouraged to harvest what we have learned this month, this year, and this lifetime...and let go of what no longer serves us.

Knowing How We Flow Naturally: Circadian Rhythms
One of the easiest ways to help my patients deal with chronic disease patterns is to look at how well their lifestyle aligns with the Chinese Body Clock. Unlike other explanations for circadian rhythms and body cycles attached to the Sun and the Moon, the Chinese Body Clock states that for every 2 hour period, the body's energetic meridians that govern the motility of the body are at their peak productive period. Conversely, 12 hours later, they are at their weakest time for production. Here we will BRIEFLY go over each of the Body Officials and give suggestions for how to be more aligned with the energy of your natural body, no matter what you are doing.
Metal Time: The Lung Official & The Large Intestine Official (3-5am, 5-7am)
The Lung Official's peak time is between 3am and 5am in the morning. It is a time for deep breathing (as many people are deeply asleep, they are honoring this official.) For those that are waking during this time, this SHOULD BE a time of reflection, letting go of anything your mind has been wrestling with, and seeking inspiration for the upcoming day. The best way to do this is to cultivate a practice of stillness...observe your thoughts until there are no more thoughts to address. Actively quiet your mind using deep breathing exercises, meditation, or moving meditations such as qigong, yin yoga, or tai chi. If actually out at this time, it's a good time to ground with the Earth. If you are unable to do any of these things, it is imperative you take a few minutes out of your day JUST FOR YOU. You MATTER. The World can wait. The Lung Official governs the spirit of the Po, your corporeal body. This is the time to come back from your dream state and get ease back into your body in this time and space.
The Large Intestine Official's peak time is between 5am and 7am in the morning. Suggestions for this time are to drink lots of water and move your bowels, letting go of anything remaining from the overnight detox process and receiving the last of the minerals from the bowel before receiving nutrients from the new day.
Earth Time: The Stomach Official & The Spleen Official (7-9am, 9-11am)
The Stomach Official enjoys its peak time from 7am to 9am. This is THE BEST time to put food into the body. (Conversely, 12 hours later is the worst time...and when do most people eat their largest meals? 7 to 9pm.)
The Spleen Official governs the body between 9am and 11am. As the Spleen Meridian is associated with the spirit of the Yi, it has special significance with your thoughts. Our thoughts are the tapestries that the Universe weaves into our timelines. It's significant as this is the time when we should tend to manifesting our dreams. For those who must work during this time, it's a great time to be productive at work. You should be firing on all cylinders if in balace.
Low Fire Time: The Heart Official & The Small Intestine Official (11am-1pm, 1-3pm)
The Spirit of the Heart Official is the Shen. You can see it through the eyes of a person. The hours of 11am to 1pm are about that low intimate fire you have with your closest friends and family. It is a time to eat lunch together, laugh together, and communicate from the heart.
The Small Intestine Official governs the body between 1pm and 3pm. As "The Sorter" of the body (both biologically in breaking down our food, and in our subtle bodies as we sort through the things we must to make order of our day, this is the time for work, walking alone or with friends to help us digest lunch, and addressing major decisions we are facing.
Water Time: The Urinary Bladder Official & The Kidney Official (3-5pm, 5-7pm)
The Urinary Bladder Official is a heavy hitter both biologically and mentally/spiritually for most people. The Meridian itself is the longest in the body, with collection points on the back for all other meridians to cross and communicate with. Many people feel their greatest fatigue during this time at work, often running for more coffee or energy drinks. Pain from sitting can be felt throughout the channel, which follows the sciatic nerve. Restless legs, an increase in needing to go to the bathroom, and an overall general malaise as people push through the rest of their workdays is felt heaviest at this time.
The Kidney Official governs during a time that marks the beginning of family time for most people. It can be hectic between the hours of 5pm to 7pm, with kids extracurricular schedules, plans we make with others, and not enough time to move from work mode to parent mode or spouse mode. This official is aligned with the spirit of the Zhi (Our Will) and therefore, our will power. As an official that governs birth, growth, development, reproduction and death, it is a time to check in on our development. Are we where we need to be spiritually at this time? It's often a shadow time of dusk...time to reflect on our lives, watch a sunset or enjoy the magic that often appears in nature at this time. Are you where you want to be? If not, why not? Lower back pain is a feature symptom during this time. Stretching & Walking can help with this.
High Fire Time: The Pericardium Official & The Triple Heater Official (7-9pm, 9-11pm)
Fire is the only element that has four officials. High Fire time begins with the Pericardium Official between 7pm and 9pm. The Pericardium official has a heavy influence on mental/emotional states and helps influence a person's relationship with others. As such, the period between 7pm and 9pm is an excellent time to connect with those you hold dear. Call your loved ones who are away and check in. Take time for your friends and family that need you to hold space for them in your heart. Tell people how much you love them.
The Triple Energizer (Heater) is the only Official not tied directly to an organ system, but instead governs the distribution of heat in the body. It is connected to our ancestral (Yuan) qi and transports it throughout the body. It keeps the heat in upper jiao (region of the body) in the heart and lungs like a fine mist (we all know what it feels like when its not...an accumulation of phlegm in the form of mucus overproduction on up to congestive heart failure,) in the stomach and spleen like a macerator to help rotten and ripen the food for digestion, and like a stew in the bowels to encourage release of toxins. For both of these High Fire officials, it is the time for relationships and a time for sex.
Wood Time: The Gallbladder Official & The Liver Official (11pm-1am, 1-3am)
Wood Time governs activity in the endocrine system while many people are asleep. The Gallbladder Official governs the body between 11pm and 1am. This official governs the quality and time length of sleep. If the Official is flowing properly, receiving bile from the liver and exreting bile for digestion, one has courage and one sleeps with ease. If not, one is prone to fearful and prone to nightmares. The Gallbladder itself is considered a curious organ, taking the plans of the liver and working through them to execute plans later. When struggling with something mentally or emotionally, we often recommend "sleeping on it." This is the official we check in with that allows us to work through what we must in our sleep.
The Liver official governs the body when most of us should be good and solidly asleep. The spirit of the Liver is the Hun, our astral projecting dream self. The organ itself is in charge of cleaning the blood, and nothing is better to do this than sleeping peacefully while your body repairs itself. Interuptions in sleep during Wood Time often mean that people wake up unrested, unsettled, and unable to start the letting go process of Metal time. If you want to check the quality of your Wood Time, check the quality of your sleep.

Massage Matters with Natalie Clark, LMT
Massage and Digestion: A Natural Connection
Have you ever faced digestive issues? Are things flowing smoothly? Well, here’s some good news—massage can be incredibly beneficial!
Recently, during my massage session, I noticed a significant improvement in my digestion. It was quite surprising how quickly things were moving, and I found myself needing to use the restroom after the session. This is a normal and healthy reaction, demonstrating the body’s natural ability to maintain balance—homeostasis at its best.
The Benefits of Abdominal Massage
Abdominal massage specifically can help relax the area, promoting more efficient digestion. When your abdomen is relaxed, it can aid in the movement of food through your digestive tract.
Moreover, your body’s ability to metabolize nutrients improves as enzymes are released more effectively. This not only speeds up nutrient absorption but also helps in flushing out toxins more rapidly.
Common Digestive Issues Addressed
With regular massage, many people experience a reduction in:
- Cramps
- Gas
- Bloating
- Constipation
In addition to digestive benefits, massage relaxes muscles, improves blood flow, and enhances lymphatic drainage, contributing to overall wellness.
So, if you’re looking for a natural way to support your digestive health, consider incorporating massage into your routine! Your body will thank you.

The IV Drip Therapy Experience
At Restore, we’re committed to practicing the highest level of safety protocols and partnering with pharmacy industry leaders to provide the highest quality ingredients for our clients. Before your first IV Drip at Restore, you will need to fill out a simple waiver and health history form that will be emailed to you ahead of your appointment. If you are unable to fill these forms out before your appointment, please arrive early to fill them out at your studio. This form only needs to be completed once a year.
Once all necessary medical forms are completed, a Registered Nurse will take your vital signs. Next, we'll do a quick Telemedicine visit with a medical provider to understand your medical history, unique needs and how intravenous therapy and vitamin infusions can help enhance your wellness. Finally, our experts will customize an intravenous therapy vitamin blend for you before the Registered Nurse administers and monitors your IV as you relax in a lounge chair.
For the next 60-90 minutes, you can read, listen to music or a podcast, catch up on your favorite show or work from your laptop. If you like to multi-task, we recommend scheduling your IV Drip session along with Compression. Some clients feel the benefits immediately after their IV vitamin therapy, and other clients report feeling an improvement within 24 hours.
How Does IV Drip Therapy Work?
IV Drip Therapy delivers fluids and revitalizing nutrients straight to your bloodstream through a vein in your arm. Unlike eating and drinking which can provide 15-20% bioavailability of nutrients, intravenous therapy can provide 100% bioavailability because the ingredients are delivered directly into your veins. The fluids can help your body hydrate more quickly and efficiently than drinking water, and the potent vitamins and minerals can help increase energy, mood, metabolism and immunity.
Not only is this technology that Restore offers important as we move forward in medicine, but Restore is making it affordable for all, with all therapies costing $50 for non-members and $32 for Members of the organization.
We will continue to highlight what this amazing facility offers and encourage everyone to take advantage of this technology and become a member of Restore Hyper Wellness!

Coaches Corner: Food Is Medicine: Intro to Chinese Dietetic Theory
| |
When most people evaluate their nutritional health, they do so in terms of calories in/calories out. This is an outdated way of looking at food since we know that our food is down into the nutrients we need. We rarely think in terms of food based on getting enough of the essential nutrients we need, but more in terms of weight loss...where calories in/calories out is often sidelined with fad diets, extreme workouts, and a failure to recognize how our food affects us emotionally and is affected by our emotions.
At Divinitude, we coach our clients to view food vastly different, based on Chinese Dietetic theory where we place importance on the flavor, thermal nature and body effects of each ingredient on the plate.
| |
For Body Effects, please check out our List of Food Properties. |
To do your own nutritional assessment, use the food properties list to determine flavor, thermal nature, and intended body effects of each ingredient of your food. Keep a food journal, writing out what your food is supposed to do. In the same journal, write down how you feel. Did the ingredient work in your body the way it's supposed to? Did you feel bloated or in digestive upset? Are there changes that can be made to help support digestive & endocrine activity? Do you like a particular flavor, texture, thermal nature, or body effect? Are you eating to enjoy your meal or eating what's on your plate because you think you should?
For those that need more guidance, consider health & wellness coaching with Divinitude. We can create nutritional meal plans for you based on your 5E analysis and can help you create more balance & pleasure at meal times.
| Chakral Connections: The Solar Plexus Chakra & Assimilation of What We Ingest/Digest | |
We've all heard the saying "You are what you Eat." We are actually so much more than that: We are what we think we are. This is influenced by EVERYTHING we INGEST, regardless of whether we digest it or not.
The Solar Plexus Chakra is about how we assimilate in our worlds. Everything we see, taste, smell, hear, touch AND feel emotionally must be processed in real-time, or held deep within us to digest it when we can.
One of the easiest ways to determine how you are assimilating into your world is to look at the health issues you have. On the surface, changing our eating habits can make a world of difference in our health, but if we are under duress or continuously stressed out from our lifestyles, the ability to digest and get nutrients that we need is disrupted. It requires more inner analysis to determine if more changes are needed. Getting to the root causes of our suffering requires an in-depth analysis of the stressors and triggers in our lives.
Chakral analysis and cleansing allows us to address the life themes that we are responsible for learning as we develop through our life stages. The first (Root) chakra deals with safety and security. The second (Sacral) chakra deals with sexuality and sacred relationships. The third Chakra (Solar Plexus) highlight not only how we see ourselves in the world, but our relationships with others. The fourth (Heart) chakra deals with how we love and are loved in the world. The fifth (Throat) chakra governs our communication in the world. The sixth (Third Eye) chakra governs issues surrounding our openness to the cosmos and our inner self as a gateway to the cosmos. The seventh (Crown) chakra governs our relationship to the Divine and ourselves AS DIVINE. These are all issues that must be examined when things are not going the way we want them to, and all are apart of a Chakral assessment for our Coaching clients at Divinitude.
This is the difference between health coaching and soul coaching at Divinitude. For health coaching, we will take your health goals and help you make a plan to address the causes of chronic disease, autoimmune disorders, an inability to lose weight or inflammatory conditions that can offer nutritional changes, joyful movement exercises and cultivation of stillness practices. Soul coaching picks up with stillness practices and includes an assessment of how your chakras are flowing together and what is needed for work-life balance. We review everything from finances to family relationships and everything in between. Our practices are designed to help everyone find balance and meaning in every aspect of their lives.
