The Academy of Hospitality & Tourism Graduation
The Academy of Hospitality & Tourism graduation was held at St. Thomas University on Thursday, May 25. Hundreds of students and families attended the ceremony where NAF Academies from many schools in Miami-Dade County gathered to celebrate their graduating seniors. Beach High was very well represented and stood out with three students receiving awards and scholarships. Serena Beze earned the outstanding AOHT Student Award, as well as the Jeanne Westphal scholarship worth $1,500, the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce scholarship worth $2,000, and the Marriott Worldwide Business Councils scholarship worth $2,500. Marimar Alvarado-Arce was also awarded the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce scholarship worth $2,000, as well as the GMBHA scholarship worth $1,250. David Spiegel was also awarded a scholarship for his tremendous activities and experiences.

Earlier that morning, each of these students (Serena, Marimar, and David), as well as another AOHT student, Carla Bouza, also earned the Michael Aller $1,000 scholarship from the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce at the Senior Awards. Diana Escorcia, another AOHT student, earned the English Honor society scholarship.
The scholarships earned by these students will go towards their college careers. Congrats to them all, to all AOHT students for graduating from the Academy, and to Ms. Patricia Gregory, lead teacher of Beach High's AOHT, for leading another successful year!
