Dear BMC community,
Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction. PEMDAS is the rule that decides what gets solved first, and what waits its turn.
As of October 26, 2026, The B-RELYT Review is out, and this is the PEMDAS Issue. It asks the same question of a student's life. What comes first.
P is for Parentheses. The Language of Math, by Stanley Johnson, asks what constraints surround students and how they can overcome them.
E is for Exponent. Own It asks what the community can do to raise a student's power.
M is for Multiply. From Inglewood and Compton to STEM Leadership: Two Journeys Shaped by Math, interviewed by Kimlin Johnson, asks what can encourage a multitude of young minds to pursue a STEM career.
D is for Divide. Being Science Backed is Not Enough: How to Tell if the Research is Actually Good, by Mary Bassey.
And When Engineering Meets Empathy, by Francess Pamitangco.
