Upcoming Calendar

BASIS Chandler Model UN

The BASIS Model UN team competed in Tucson, AZ at the University of Arizona last weekend. This was their first conference on the road and they competed against schools from all around Arizona and Mexico! The team did an amazing job and we're very proud of all their hard work this entire year.

Here are some special shout outs to our students who took home awards:

Shashank G. - Best Delegate

Taksh B. - Best Novice

Ritwik J. - Best Policy Paper

Niyathi K. - Best Delegate

And last, but not least, Gopikisor S. who not only won Best Delegate, but was a pivotal member of a team who double crossed both Trojans and Greeks in his historical committee (with the assistance of Mahita V.) and made himself King, only to be assassinated. His reign was short lived, but his commitment to his character, Tuecer, was commendable.

Congratulations on a strong finish to the year!

Mock Trial State Tournament

The State Tournament was last weekend at the Sandra Day O'Connor Federal Courthouse in Downtown Phoenix. Although we did not finish in the Top 4, our team did great and plan on finishing in the Top 4 next year! Our artists, Tanvi C., was declared a winner of one of the Phoenix regions and Keshav J., won the State Courtroom Artist contest. BASIS Chandler has won this art contest 7 times out of the last 8 years. Take a look at the winning artwork below!

A BASIS Chandler Thank You!

A huge thank you to BASIS Chandler 10th grader Arya B. for leading a courtyard improvement project. For his boy scout service project, Arya identified a need on campus (lack of seating in the courtyard). Over the past year he researched, designed, and lead a team in constructing eight benches for the BASIS Chandler courtyard. Thank you for this donation, and for the amazing construction of these benches, Arya!

Middle School Science Bowl Arizona State Champions

Earlier this month BASIS Chandler competed in the Arizona Middle School Science Bowl. This is a team buzzer competition where students demonstrate their knowledge over the entire range of STEM contents. Of the three teams we sent we came out with 5th, 4th, and 1st place! The winning team consisting of Arnav S., Elaine H., Tanishq I., Varyan J., and Vivan P. will be competing at the National Science Bowl in Washington DC at the end of April. Let’s wish them luck as they strive to bring home our first National Science Bowl trophy!

Band and Strings Performance

Our 6th and 7th grade Band and Strings students will be performing the National Anthem at the Arizona Diamondbacks game on May 6th. We will join several other BASIS schools to perform the Anthem. We would love to have as many BASIS families at this game as possible. For every ticket sold from BASIS Chandler families, our band and strings programs will receive $5 back, so of course we want to sell as many as possible. The attached flyer gives you order information with a code so we will receive back the funds. Thank you for supporting our band and strings programs! Go D-backs!
