Alley-Oops Basketball Club

BASIS Chandler is offering a 4 session basketball club after school to provide students with an opportunity to play pick-up games in the gym against their peers. This is not a skill-based training camp but more of a fun opportunity for students to play with their friends and practice.

The club is open to the first 20 students in grades 8-11th grade and the first 20 students in grades 6th and 7th. We will meet on March 30th, April 6th, April 20th, and April 27th from 4:00 PM -5:30 PM in the gym. Registration is $20 on Smart for Charters.
BASIS Chandler Math Team M3 Math Modeling Challenge

Check out and like our BASIS Chandler math team's M3 Math Modeling Challenge vlog! On February 27th, 5 juniors Ellena J., Anouksha B., Dhruv M., Divya G., and Yash C., participated in a 14-hour long math modeling competition. Throughout the 14 hours, they filmed a 2-minute vlog about their day, and their video was selected in the top 6. Please vote for our team's video by liking it!

BASIS Chandler Student Awarded NHS Scholarship

The National Honor Society and NASSP are happy to announce that Katherine W. has been selected as one of this year's NHS Scholarship semifinalists and will receive a scholarship award of $3,200! Congratulations, Katherine!
Brain Bee

BASIS Chandler dominated the Arizona Regional Brain Bee competition.
Students from twelve high schools across Arizona demonstrated their knowledge of the human brain. Anushka A. took home first place, and Catherine M. took home second place in the 23rd Annual Arizona Regional Brain Bee at Midwestern University in Glendale. Anushka will compete in the National Brain Bee on April 9th.
Mock Trial Club

The BASIS Chandler Mock Trial Program competed in the Phoenix Regionals on March 4th through 5th via Zoom. The teams worked hard and won several rounds against tough competition. The following students were recognized as Outstanding Performers in a trial: Seniors Aayush M., Anekha P., and Nandini R.; Juniors Anushka A., and Alyssa F; Sophomore Ashley K.; and Freshman Sanjana B. Also, artists Sahitha V. and Catherine M. documented the proceedings through art. See the accompanying photos. Congratulations to all participants for a job well done!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
Here is the latest college acceptance information for the Class of 2022.

With the decisions communicated so far, our students have received 211 acceptances at 61 different colleges and universities.

Based on student reporting, early scholarship results to date include:
• Over $4 million in merit-based aid
• 50% of the class (45 students) were National Merit Commended 
• 42% of those Commended (19 students) transitioned to National Merit FINALSTS! Our congratulations to all!  
• Congratulations to Ella W. She won a Coca-Cola scholarship! She also earned Finalist status and scholarship in the Regeneron Science Talent Search.
• We still have an Elks quarterfinalist in the running and a JA of Arizona-18 Under 18 in consideration! Congratulations and best wishes for all their continued success!

Scholar and Honors Program information so far include:
• 24 Barrett Honors College acceptances
• 26 University of Arizona Honors College acceptances
• We have Honors College acceptances to the University of Washington and George Washington University.
• We have our second Turing Scholar at the University of Texas at Austin this year!
• We earned our 1st Nemerov Writing Scholar at the University of Washington in St. Louis! (including scholarship)
• A senior was named a Yale Engineering and Science Scholar! (including scholarship)

Reporting Student Absences

If your student needs to be reported absent due to an illness, doctor appointment, vacation, bereavement, religious holiday, etc., please email [email protected] with the student's name, grade, and reason for absence. Email is the preferred method of reporting an absence, but feel free to call our Front Office at 480-907-6072 if that is more convenient for you.
