BASIS Chandler Model UN - MCC Awards | |
This past weekend, the Model UN club participated in the MCC Sonoran Conference and took home BEST SCHOOL as a team! The conference was a 2 day event. Day 1, students were on the MCC campus for 12 whole hours and still kept up the momentum!
Awards included Distinguished Delegate (top 15% of performers), Best Policy Paper, Best Diplomat, Best Delegate (combined policy paper and in person performance score) and Special Rapporteur (selected by peers in committee). As a team, our scores earned us Best School and our students took home a total of 30 individual awards!

National Center for Women and Information Technology
This year we had several BASIS Chandler students recognized as national award winners in the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) Aspiration in Computing competition!

The AIC recognizes young women students for their computing-related achievements and interests, and encourages them to pursue their passions. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and future plans.

2023 Teen Leadership Academy
For High School Students Only: The City of Chandler’s Teen Leadership Academy is back after a COVID hiatus and we’d love to have 3-5 BASIS students attend. A flyer with info is attached (and below).

The early application decisions for the Class of 2023 are still arriving, and we are completing and submitting the last of the regular and rolling applications.
To date, the student data and college reports show our seniors completed over 1000 applications to 152 different institutions. Reviewing the decisions so far, our students have 285 acceptances at 78 different colleges and universities. Early decision processing done. We will start seeing regular decision results in March.
Scholarship Update:
Institutional based merit aid remains strong this year. Individual scholarship applications continue to be submitted by the students. Based on student reporting, scholarship results include over $7.2 million in merit-based aid so far.
AND… All 30 class of 2023 NMSC candidates became National Merit Finalists this week! Congratulations to all!

Reporting Student Absences
If your student needs to be reported absent due to an illness, doctor appointment, vacation, bereavement, religious holiday, etc., please email chdh_attendance@basised.com with the student's name, grade, and reason for absence. Email is the preferred method of reporting an absence, but feel free to call our Front Office at 480-907-6072 if that is more convenient for you.
