We’re excited to share some big news—Valley Business Network (VBN) is back, and it’s better than ever!
After taking a short hiatus to reflect, refine, and reimagine VBN, we’re proud to unveil a revitalized networking experience that’s built for results—and designed with your growth in mind.
New This Year: Industry Spheres
We’re introducing a more inclusive approach—allowing multiple members from the same industry, as long as they offer distinct specialties. This change fosters collaboration, not competition, and strengthens referral opportunities.

"Manipulation, Mission, and Meaning"
Step into the shadows at our next Women’s Success Network gathering—where intelligence meets intrigue. We’ll begin the evening with 30–45 minutes of lively networking and connection, all while playing “WSN 007,” an undercover icebreaker game that will test your observational savvy and get the conversation flowing.
Once we’ve cracked the code, we’ll shift gears for a dynamic discussion on manipulation—a tool often misunderstood, yet widely used in professional environments. Together, we’ll examine the science behind influence: when it’s used for good, when it crosses the line, and how gender perceptions shape feedback around it.
Bring your insights, experiences, and curiosity as we decode the data and share stories that challenge assumptions and sharpen our leadership lenses.

| | | Congratulations to Southwick's Zoo, celebrating 60 years!!! An amazing family business, NE's largest zoo, and a jewel in the crown of the Blackstone Valley. What a perfect day last Saturday to celebrate. Check out all the new and beautiful (like the dazzling carousel) attractions at the Zoo! | | |
It may be summer, but we know that cold weather comes quickly. We need your help to reopen the Blackstone Valley Emergency Shelter this November! We’re launching a campaign to recruit 100 volunteers for our cold weather shelter this winter. You just need to sign up for a single five-hour shift at our shelter at St. Patrick's Parish in Whitinsville. No experience necessary!
With 100 volunteers, our shelter will be well-staffed for the season to help those experiencing homelessness have a warm, safe place to sleep instead
of being out in the cold.

Sales Tax Holiday Weekend Set for
August 9 & 10, 2025
The MA House of Representatives and State Senate today adopted resolutions (H.4220 & S.2530) setting the date for this year’s annual Sales Tax Holiday weekend, for August 9 & 10, 2025.
The sales tax exemption applies for those two days to any retail purchase made in the Commonwealth, both in-store and online, of $2,500 or less, with certain exceptions. While the rules of the holiday weekend remain the same as in recent years, members are encouraged to closely review these helpful FAQs from the MA Department of Revenue (DOR). Note, the FAQs link refers to the 2024 dates but will soon be updated.
For more information, the specific rules governing the Sales Tax Holiday can be found in the DOR regulation, 830 CMR 64H.1.8: Sales Tax Holiday.
