Note from Casey
I am pumped for next week's return of Ted Lasso, the show about a compassionate coach of a fictional Premier League soccer team played by Jason Sudeikis, who taught audiences in 2020 to “be curious, not judgmental.” Over the next six weeks, we will heed Coach Lasso's advice by turning to and grappling with questions articulated by the Curious Kids of First Presbyterian Church. On Sunday, we will begin with two questions that were submitted together, which ask us to consider God's role in ancient history. The questions we will consider are as follows: “did people in biblical times live in Pangaea?” and “where were the ancient biblical cities?” Our discussion will center on the original creation story in Genesis 1:1-13, but we will also take a trip with Jesus to Jericho (pictured here), thought to be the oldest continually inhabited city anywhere in the world. Join us Sunday as we consider the questions of our curious children and ask what the Bible says about the role of God and the presence of Jesus across history.
Peace,
Pastor Casey

Register to Rise Against Hunger Today!
Our annual meal packing event with Rise Against Hunger will take place on Sunday, August 30. From 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM in Davis Hall, we will gather to pack more than ten thousand meals that will go directly to communities around the world experiencing extreme food insecurity and famine. This event is a great way to make a big difference in a short amount of time, and is open to families and members of all ages. We will not only be fighting hunger, but also dancing and forging deeper intergenerational friendships in our hair nets and gloves. Please register when you can at the link below. If you can join for set up at 1:30 PM or stay a bit late to clean up after 5 :00 PM, that would be great as well, but if all you can make is the main event, we would love to see you there.

Youth Ice Cream Social
It was a fun evening of ice cream, conversation, and camp-style crafts. We welcomed new Youth Group leadership team member, Matthew, and enjoyed ice cream sundaes and snacks. It was also a time for goodbyes, as this was Mrs. Prager’s last Youth Group gathering.
Watch the Banner, social media, and e-mail for upcoming Youth Group plans!

With Love and Gratitude
Friends, I am thankful for this time that we have enjoyed together – worshipping God, serving in the community, and moments of Christian fellowship. You all have poured into me: from meals from Presbyterian Women during my years in seminary to the prayers and notes of support. I am forever grateful. Thank you for the lovely send-off in worship on July 19 and for the cards, flowers, meals, prayers, hugs, and love shared since then. I will miss you and this place.
I have been asked to take the traditional Presbyterian separation period, which allows me time to settle into my new call in ministry and allows you and the staff an opportunity for a smooth and healthy transition. I will need to refrain from visits and communication (including social media) during this time. You can be certain that you remain close to my heart and in my prayers.
