2018 Vacation Bible School Call for Volunteers
This summer First Presbyterian Church and First Kids Preschool have partnered together to offer the opportunity for learning, growing, fun, and fellowship for kids of all ages. Together we will learn of God's love for us and we will explore how the waters of creation invite us to find joy, peace, and adventure!
Vacation Bible School cannot happen without good and faithful volunteers, so we need your help. Volunteers can register online.  Please note: volunteers 18 and older should have completed the screening for the Child and Youth Protection Policy before VBS begins.

FIRST VBS SUMMER CAMP
June 11 - 14, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Summer Enrichment Series
Join us this summer as we explore together through an All-Church Read of Grounded, by Diana Butler Bass. There will be multiple opportunities to discuss the book and beginning on June 3rd, we will have a time of learning and fellowship for all ages during the Summer Enrichment hour from 8:45-9:45 a.m. Summer preaching and worship will also be rooted around chapter themes from the book. Books can be bought online. Whether you read the book or not, we hope you will join us! All are welcome!

2018 Habitat for Humanity Campaign Update
The 2018 Habitat for Humanity campaign is underway.
To date, we have received $7,486.69 toward our $10,000 goal.
To donate, simply click on this link to give online , mail your check to the church office or drop in the offering plate on Sunday morning. Please make checks payable to First Presbyterian Church and write “Habitat” on the memo line.
Work Day: Saturday, June 2, 2018
Come out and help us begin our much-anticipated renovation of the sanctuary! After a complimentary breakfast is served in the Fellowship House at 8 a.m., we will move to the sanctuary to begin the process of removing the old cork flooring. Work will be completed no later than lunchtime. Gloves, flat-bladed edging hoes, and pliers might be helpful as we will be scraping up the old cork and removing small nails. To let us know you will be joining us, please contact Deborah Mesimer in the church office.
An alternative work morning will occur at 10 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28th. We will begin to consolidate seat cushions, extra hymnals, Bibles, chairs, and miscellaneous items to put into a storage container in the alleyway NW of the sanctuary. Any small cardboard boxes would be helpful for storing books and glassware. If you have any questions, please contact Bob Smith at 704 467 6108.
W. M. Irvin Elementary School Supplies Needed
Since 2015, First Presbyterian Church has partnered with W.M. Irvin Elementary school by supporting the teachers and students through test proctoring, landscaping, tutoring, and teacher appreciation breakfasts. As the school year passes, the school’s supply closet is being depleted. Teachers often purchase supplies out of their personal funds to have fully stocked classrooms. Our church has an opportunity to support teachers and students during their final quarter of school by providing donations to their school supply closet. All items listed below are indicated as high need items .  Please drop them off in the church office by Pentecost Sunday, May 20 th .   
Supplies Needed
Hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, Lysol spray, Kleenex, pencils, crayons, colored pencils and markers, composition notebooks, Expo dry erase markers, whiteboard erasers, Sharpies, highlighters, glue sticks

SUMMER SCHEDULE

Worship Schedule
Our summer worship schedule will begin next Sunday, May 27th and continue through
September 2nd.  We will have one worship service at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday. 
With the exception of the S&D Class, Sunday School classes will not meet. There will be a Summer Enrichment hour from 8:45-9:45 a.m. beginning June 3rd.

Summer Choir
If you are interested in singing in our Summer Choir, please come to the choir room
on the 3rd floor of the Education Building from 9:00—9:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
Summer Choir is open to children, youth, and adults of all ages. We would love to have you!
