Note from Ellen

Dear Friends,

This Sunday, December 10, our Sanctuary Choir will lead us in worship with the Christmas Oratorio by Camille Saint-Saens. The music will begin at 10:55 a.m. with the Prelude, so I encourage you to arrive before then so that you don’t miss a single note! I know you will join me in thanking Jacquie Yost, Jeff Price, and our devoted choir members who give so much of themselves to lead us in praising God in this and every season.

Grace and peace,

Ellen

We will Not have Bible Study on December 20,

we Will have Bible Study on December 27.

Advent wreath readers are still needed! For worship each Sunday and for the two services on Christmas Eve, we need readers and lighters. We would love to have a mix of readers each week (from different families, ages, or groups such as circles, Sunday school classes, choir, or youth). The liturgies are simple enough for younger readers to join in, as well.

So, form a group, sign up below:

(https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0948acab2dabf49-advent2, and help us worship God as we prepare to welcome the Christ child. Open spots remain on all days!

A copy of each week's script is on a clipboard in the Narthex if you would like to see it.

The Noisy Offering for last Sunday was $482.00!! Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Chrismon Tree

Our children and youth spent time in Sunday School and Pew Prep decorating ornaments for the Chrismon tree. Please be sure to take a look next time you are in the sanctuary.

November Session highlights

The Session met on November 14. We discussed Chapters 2 and 3 of Start with Hello by Shannan Martin. We focused on “How to Actually Listen” and the actions that make it hardest to listen. We found that many of us need to stop talking, slow down, remember what is true, and notice who is missing.

The Finance and Stewardship committee is hard at work on next year’s budget. They are gathering budget requests from the other committees and are seeking all pledges. At this time we have received 121 pledges, which is down from the 166 pledges that we received in total last year. If you intend to make a pledge to the church for next year, it would be a great help to the Finance and Stewardship committee if you did that now. Note that it is very easy to do online!

Christmas Pageant - December 10

Please make plans to join us for this year’s Christmas pageant on December 10th.

Our four year-olds are invited to participate as angels. They should gather in the Fellowship House between 4:30 and 4:45 PM to dress and prepare for their role.

All five year olds through 5th graders are encouraged to participate as barn animals. They can arrive in the sanctuary at 4:45 PM and select a costume. They will sit with their family and come forward when indicated in the bulletin.

Our 6th-12th grade Youth will lead us in worship through the retelling of the story of the birth of Jesus.

Angel Tree Thank You

Thank you so much for all that you did to make this year’s Angel Tree Christmas a success!

The Board of Deacons deeply appreciate all the time, prayer, and energy you put into serving Angel Tree families this Christmas. Through your efforts, 74 children were able to experience both God’s love and the love of an incarcerated family member. Thank you for honoring the instruction found in Hebrews 13:3 to “remember those in prison” by remembering their families. This year we graciously donated 148 gifts to 32 families in our area!

Please see the photos below of our unforgettable Angel Tree Christmas experience.I am sure you can tell from the smiles that many families were blessed.

Once again, thank you so much for your support for Angel Tree Christmas. We can’t wait for next year!

Blessings,

FPC Board of Deacons
