Session Meeting Highlights from April 13, 2021

The Session met at 7:00 p.m. on April 13th using Zoom Internet video & audio.
The Session was excited to welcome confirmand Sam Davis as he shared his Statement of Faith with the Elders. Having fulfilled all the necessary requirements, Sam was approved for confirmation on Sunday, May 9, 2021.
May 16 was approved as a target date to be back in the sanctuary for an 11:00 a.m. worship service, limiting attendance to 70 people and following specific safety guidelines such as spacing and wearing masks. Information about signing up and other details are on the website and will be updated as they evolve.
May 8th is the date for a campus grounds congregational workday – plan to help spruce up our grounds!
The Memorial Garden Board continues to maintain and improve on the grounds at Memorial Garden. This is a beautiful time of year at the Garden, so make time to visit!
Many youth activities are being planned including Youth Sunday, confirmation, and 4th grade Bible distribution on May 9th, recognition of High School Seniors on May 16, Vacation Bible School June 21-24, and a number of upcoming summer events!
As prescribed in our Corporation By-Laws, the outgoing class of Elders will serve as a nominating committee to nominate the President and Vice President of First Presbyterian Church, Inc. These officers will be voted on at a meeting of the Trustees of the Corporation at the time of the June 8 Session meeting.
The 2021 Market for Mission is being planned for Saturday, October 2, 2021! Save your donations of new and gently used household items and watch for updates on this great mission project!
The Session joyfully anticipates meeting and getting to know our new Senior Minister, Ellen Crawford True. Ellen will begin her ministry here at First Presbyterian Concord, on June 15, 2021.
The next Session meeting will be held on May 11, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.

As Presbyterians, decisions affecting our worship, education, spiritual nurture, physical property, and budget are made by our elected leaders. To connect with church officers, see the list of Elders and Deacons and their committee assignments on the church website under the “ABOUT” tab, “Staff and Leadership.”

The Session meets monthly on the 2^nd Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Minutes are open and available by request after they are approved at the following month’s Session meeting.

Attention all 4th Graders!

Please e-mail a photo of your 4th grader to René Prager at r.prager@firstpresconcord.org by April 30.

Photos will be shared as part of the Christian Education Committee recognition of our 4th graders and the presentation of their Bibles on Youth Sunday, May 9th.

Church Grounds Work Day May 8

There will be a Church Grounds Work Day on May 8 starting at 8:00 a.m. We will work on the main campus so bring your work gloves and gardening tools. We will also tackle the parking lot and vacant lot across Church Street. We need volunteers with power tools to clear out the overgrown area between the lots. If you have any questions, please contact the Building and Grounds Committee - Wade Holland, Jim Holloway and Kathy Pilkington.

Youth Sunday - May 9!

Mother's Day, May 9th, will be Youth Sunday. Our entire worship service will be youth led and we hope that all of the youth of the congregation can participate. Please take a moment to sign-up here.

Eleven of our Youth gathered on April 18 for planning. If you were not able to attend, please contact René Prager at r.prager@firstpresconcord.org by April 25th so that we can ensure your Youth has a role in worship. Please mark your calendars for 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 2nd, for our next gathering.

Beginning at 9:45 a.m., the Presbyterian Women will be hosting a reception to celebrate you! Invitations will be coming soon!

Girt Scout Registration for 2021-2022 Kicks-off this Month!

Please join us as we plan for our next year of adventures! All girls who will be in kindergarten through 12th grade in the fall are invited to be an important part of our Girl Scout family at First Presbyterian Church. Registration is now open! This year, we took part in the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment, learned about Historic Concord, hiked with the wild ponies and along the waterfalls at Grayson Highlands, earned our Democracy badge, explored world holidays, and so much more!
