Presbyterian Women's Honorary Life Membership Recipient
|
Presbyterian Women have been meeting for over 200 years, with many traditions and much hard work. One of those traditions is the Honorary Life Membership award. Honorary Life Memberships are part of a custom that began in 1912, according to Horizons magazine. Here at FPC, we continue this rich tradition of honoring dedicated and faithful women who make this world a better place, not only for their own church, but also for other people. With pleasure, this year’s award was presented to a dedicated, hardworking and gracious Southern lady,
Margaret “Peg” Morrison
.
Peg has shown a commitment to Christ, to this church, and to all God’s children. She is very deserving of this recognition. Peg has served as moderator for the PW and as an elder for the church. She was the superintendent of Sunday School, has served on numerous committees, and has coordinated many events, including Spiced Sunday and our most recent Joy Gift Dinner. She chaired the Bicentennial Committee in 2004 and did a fabulous job creating the history wall, working to update the history room, and overseeing the publication of the history book! In honor of her faithful service to this church, she was given a pin and a certificate, and her family joined her for the PW luncheon. When you see Peg, thank her for her servant leadership and for her dedication to PW and to FPC.

W. M. Irvin Elementary School Supplies Needed
|
Since 2015, First Presbyterian Church has partnered with W.M. Irvin Elementary school by supporting the teachers and students through test proctoring, landscaping, tutoring, and teacher appreciation breakfasts. As the school year passes, the school’s supply closet is being depleted. Teachers often purchase supplies out of their personal funds to have fully stocked classrooms. Our church has an opportunity to support teachers and students during their final quarter of school by providing donations to their school supply closet. All items listed below are indicated as
high need items
.
Please drop them off in the church office by Pentecost Sunday, May 20
