Dear friends,
You’ll find the prayer I offered Sunday morning for college and graduate students below. Please continue to pray for students and parents and for all who are preparing to begin or return to school in the days and weeks ahead.
Gracious and wise God,
we give you thanks for the gift of education and the promise of new chapters.
Bless students who are heading off to college or graduate school over the next few weeks.
Give them curiosity as they encounter different ideas and new people.
Guard them in their joy as they build friendships.
Lead them to be gracious with themselves and others when things do not go as planned.
Surround their families with your peace and comfort in the midst of transitions.
And hold these students close,
reminding them how dearly they are treasured by you and by us always.
For we pray in the name of your son, our savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Grace and peace,
Ellen

As part of our ongoing commitment to anti-racism work, our next Racial Equity Reads book will be "I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness” by Austin Channing Brown. Whether you have engaged in this work for a long time or are just curious about this journey, we welcome everyone to join us for open and gracious conversation. We will begin our six week video and discussion series on Thursday, August 19th at 4 p.m. in Davis Hall. As always, we encourage you to purchase your book through black-owned booksellers, if possible. For more information or to sign up to join the discussion, please contact Lynne Keel at lynne.keel@firstpresconcord.org, that she may send you the reading schedule as well as notify you of any changes to meeting times/places.

Together in Education with First Kids
|
Harris Teeter’s Together in Education (TIE) program is a “painless” fund-raising program for schools (public or private – preschool through 12th grade) in our communities. The program gives schools a chance to earn funds for their school when shopping with a linked VIC card. Any customer can link their VIC card to support up to 6 schools. When customers purchase select Harris Teeter Brands products using their linked VIC card, Harris Teeter contributes a percentage of those purchase dollars to the school/s.
You may link your card to First Kids (# 6125) at any checkout register, online, or with your HT app. We would be glad to link it for you if that is easier, just email the name on your card and phone number associated with the card to Frstkids@yahoo.com.
100% of funds earned from the TIE program are placed in our First Kids Scholarship Fund. Thank you for being "together in education” with First Kids.

This is just one of many ways the Deacons of FPCC serve the community.
