THE BANNER

Note from Casey

Dear friends,

This week's lectionary text involves a significant leap in time from where we left off on Sunday. The people have arrived in the Promised Land. Manna and the wandering in the wilderness are distant memories and stories handed down from generation to generation. But life in the so-called Promised Land is far from perfect. In fact, violence, deception, corruption, and greed seem as prevalent as ever. Our text this week (1 Samuel 3:1-21) tells us that the word of the Lord was rare in those days, and that makes young Samuel unsure who is speaking to him in these verses. I quite admire Samuel's honest uncertainty, and I look forward to sharing why with you this weekend. Join us this Sunday as we explore what it takes to listen for God's voice in a time or place that is overwhelmed by loud distractions.

Peace,

Pastor Casey

Girl Scout Troop is Blooming

Troop 334 had an amazing time at Little Farm Midland. They learned about running a small business from a female entrepreneur (Teri Jones). Ms. Jones gave the girls a tour of her spring and fall flower fields and shared a little about her resident pollinators. After sampling some honey, the girls explored Teri’s walk-in flower refrigerator. The evening concluded with flower arranging – starting with fillers and adding in colorful flowers to form beautiful bouquets. The girls all got to bring home their creations.

Blessing of the Animals

What a great time our furry friends and their humans had Sunday afternoon! At first it was like” a meet and greet “with friendly barking and meows., then all God’s creatures were personally blessed by Ellen or Casey.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who brought donations for the Cabarrus Animal Shelter. When the items arrived Monday afternoon, the staff was SO APPRECIATIVE.

Gratitude and love for our pets and all God’s amazing animals.

Blessing Box Restocked as Lesson
