Interim Pastor Search Committee
The Personnel Committee, with the approval of the Session, has nominated and approved the following to serve on our Interim Pastor Search Committee: Evelyn Barrier (Elder), Amy Woolwine (Deacon), Britt Leatherman (Strategic Planning Team), Grace Davis and Merl Hamilton. The Interim Search Committee will create a job description with assistance from staff and Presbytery, schedule and conduct interviews, recommend a candidate for Session's approval, negotiate terms of contract with candidate through Presbytery, and other duties as needed associated with this search process. Please hold this group in prayer as they begin their work immediately.
High School Youth Sunday
This summer, many of our High School youth joyfully attended the Montreat Youth Conference. With the theme of Lift Every Voice, they heard, felt and saw the message of the importance of finding and using their own voices but also listening to the voices of others. It was a powerful conference and when they talked about what they would be taking back with them to their homes, schools, and church, our youth shared that they would like to share what they learned with our congregation. This Sunday, our High School Youth will be leading worship and bringing the theme Lift Every Voice from Montreat to First Presbyterian Church. Come worship and see all the incredible ways that the youth can lead and inspire us as followers of Christ!
Dedication Sunday, October 21st
Please join us for Dedication Sunday where we will commit our time, talent, and treasure for the coming year as well as re-dedicate our worship space through special liturgy and music. The Sanctuary Choir will offer two up-lifting songs along with guest instrumentalists:  Be Thou My Vision and The Lord Bless You. Jacquie Yost is preparing especially wide-ranging pieces for the newly renovated main organ that embrace grandeur, awe, and meditative elements for God, and to inspire each of us as we seek God, and personal interaction with Jesus. We will continue our celebration following worship with an old fashioned picnic on the Church grounds with games and activities for the whole family! Don't miss the fun! To ensure that we have enough food, please sign up here.
Wednesday Night Fellowship
Please join us on Wednesday, October 3rd, for a delicious meal and our series on Faith Practices. This week, we will hear about Worship and how that experience extends beyond Sunday morning. This program is kid-friendly, so bring the whole family! Please sign up online or in the church office by noon Monday, October 1st. Menu: honey garlic chicken, fried rice, vegetable, fruit, salad, dessert.
2018 Cabarrus County CROP Hunger Walk
What Is It? The Cabarrus County CROP Hunger Walk is a great opportunity for our church family to work together, by donating money and time, to end hunger in our community and in the world. This event includes educational stations (First Presbyterian of Concord is hosting the clean water station again this year) and a 1-mile and 3-mile walk. Fun for all ages!

When Is It?  Sunday, October 14th. Registration and education stations are at 1:00 PM. The walk is at 2:00 PM.

Where Is It? This year, the walk is happening at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church at 101 Vance Avenue in Kannapolis.

How Can I Donate? Click this link to our church’s team. You can donate there (and join the team at that link, too). You can also donate in the church office or in the collection plates on Sundays with checks designated to CROP walk. Last year, our church collected an amazing $1706 for this event, and we have been challenged to that top that this year!

How Can I Join In? You can use the above link to register for the team or you can call the church office. You can also join in by just arriving that day! All are welcome!

Is There Any Other Way I Can Help? Yes! You can spread the word and encourage your friends and family to support this fun event. You also can help with our education station that day by helping to show other walkers what it is like to have limited access to clean water (we supply the educational tools) and handing out candy to the kids who visit our station.

Who Can I Contact with Questions? Our church’s CROP walk coordinator this year is Amy Woolwine. Feel free to email her at or call her at 704-699-9185, if you have questions or want to help out.
