Summer Schedule
Worship Schedule
Our summer worship schedule will begin this Sunday, May 26th and continue through September 1st. Our worship service will be at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday in the Sanctuary.

Summer Classes
The S & D Sunday School Class invites all adults (and our high school students!) to join us this summer. We will continue to meet weekly on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. in the Fellowship House. We just started the book: Simon Peter by Adam Hamilton. Extra books are available and we would love to have you join us! Please contact Rene Prager ( ) if you would like to be added to our e-mail list or Sallie Dotger or Todd Phillips if you have any questions about the current study. Whether you plan to study with us all summer or just drop in when you are in town, we look forward to seeing you!

The Journey Class invites you to join for a June Summer Book Study of "Neighborhood Church" by Krin Van Tatenhove and Rob Mueller. Meeting on Sunday mornings for fellowship and discussion, this book will invite us to consider the questions, "How can we embody the values of love, grace, and justice? As faith communities, how can our collective embodiment of these values shine even brighter? The answers to these questions must always unfold right here, right now, exactly where God has planted us." The class will meet on Sunday mornings (8:45-9:45) in June in the Sun-room of the Fellowship House. Books can be purchased at various online bookstores, or you can purchase a book through the church for $12. Look for a bookmark at the church with more information and a reading schedule for the book!

Summer Choir
If you are interested in singing in our Summer Choir, please come to the choir room on the 3rd floor of the Education Building from 9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings beginning May 26th. Summer Choir is open to children, youth, and adults of all ages. We would love to have you!

We need your help as we help get our classrooms cleaned up and prepare our campus for our VBS Summer Camp. We will be decorating and getting ready to go "To Mars and Beyond." There is a job for everyone and there will be a light breakfast served. We hope you will join us as we rally together to make our church and its classrooms better and brighter for all. Sign up here to let us know if you plan to help!
W. M. Irvin Elementary Adopt a School Program
W. M. Irvin Elementary School Adopt A School Program is in need of volunteers. Each year the school struggles to have a sufficient number of proctors for the EOG testing as mandated by state requirements. This year EOG's are taking place on June 4th, 6th, and 10th. Proctors are needed each of these mornings from 7:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m, but testing may end earlier than 12:30 p.m. and volunteers may then be able to leave earlier. A "Sign Up Genius" has been set up for those who are able to schedule a morning in support of our Adopt A School Program. There you will find a full description and be able to specify a particular date.

2019 Graduates
On May 5th, our 10 graduating seniors were celebrated and recognized before and during our 11a.m. worship service. The Presbyterian Women hosted a reception for the graduates and their families in the Fellowship house during the Sunday School hour. Judy Mongold decorated cookies shaped like graduation caps and diplomas in each student's school colors for the reception. Rachel Vogado and Lynne Keel presented each graduate with the book " Prayers for the Road" during the 11 a.m. service.
For those unable to attend on May 5th, please stop by the Fellowship House to pick up your book and cookies.

A Fond Farewell to Deborah from the Personnel Committee
Twenty-eight years, that’s a long time. That’s how long, Deborah, you have served this church. I’m surprised that way back in 1991 that this church was willing to entrust so much responsibility to one who must have been a mere teenager. You came on board while Buddy Craig was serving as our interim head of staff, between Jim Holderness and Todd Hobbie. And you have seen and heard and done much. Think about this: Deborah; you have had the pleasure, or maybe, the challenge, of working alongside Buddy, Todd, John Todd, Peter, Julie, Leslie, Brad, Ben, Ken, Claire, Lynne and Rachel, and that’s just the ministers. Not to mention, the music leaders from Jeff LeDuc to Kevin Holland to Jacquie and Jeff. And you know how music people can be, just kidding. And then there’s Christie and Heath and all of the other staff members that you have worked with. You’ve put together something like 1,450 bulletins. You’ve sent out over 330 session and diaconate agendas and minutes. You’ve helped to coordinate hundreds of funerals and weddings and dinners along with approximately one kazillion other tasks, that’s kazillion with a k. You have done your best to keep the trains running and to keep us on the tracks. I dare say that you know more about us than we know about ourselves. And we should all give thanks that you can keep secrets. Will someone give me a hallelujah and amen for someone who can keep a secret? You have served this church with wisdom, skill, maturity, and lots of plain old hard work. Your organizational skills are unsurpassed and are matched only by your commonsense and level-headedness. I don’t know what we will miss more, your wealth of knowledge or your caring attitude and friendly smile and calming voice when answering the phone. But I do know that we are a better church, and a better church family because of you and we hope and pray that you can look upon your time here at First Pres with nothing but fondness. For you have been a true blessing to this church, and we thank you for all you’ve done for us. We wish for you and all your family the best in the years to come.
Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts from First Presbyterian Church marked 13 years of filling plastic Easter eggs for the kindergarten classes at Coltrane-Webb Elementary school this year. The tradition originated in 2007 when the then co-leader of First Presbyterian's Daisy Troop 3631, Rachel Acton, also a kindergarten teacher at Coltrane-Webb at the time, connected the two groups in this partnership. The Girl Scouts donated the plastic eggs and the treats inside, filling them and delivering them to the school in time for the annual egg hunt.

Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School has added an additional partner into this traditional spring event. In recent years, the eggs filled by the Girl Scouts were delivered to St Andrews Living Center in Concord and the residents hid the eggs. St Andrews' residents also dye eggs with the students when they visit for the egg hunt.
