Update from the Interim Pastor Nominating Committee
The Interim Pastor Nominating Committee continues to meet once a week, as we strive to find the best interim pastor for our congregation. We are blessed to have several impressive candidates, and we have begun the process of reviewing resumes, letters of interest, and references. Interviews will begin shortly. Please keep both the applicants and the committee members in your prayers, specifically praying for wisdom and insight. We will continue to provide intermittent updates, in order to keep you informed about our progress.
Guest Preacher, Jan Edmiston
This Sunday, November 11th, we welcome Rev. Dr. Jan Edmiston to the pulpit. Rev. Edmiston is the new Executive Presbyter of our presbytery, the former co-moderator of the 221st General Assembly, and recently served as the Associate Executive Presbyter for the Presbytery of Chicago. She is also a tremendous blogger, writing on faith matters, the work of the church, and visioning the Kingdom of God.

Rev. Edmiston will also be giving a special presentation during the Sunday School hour (9:45-10:45) in Davis Hall, which will serve as the Sunday School class offering for all of our Adult Sunday School classes as well as our High School Sunday School class.
Angel Tree Kick-Off Sunday
Once again the Board of Deacons is pleased to join with FPC members in support of the Angel Tree Fellowship. This Christmas gift program helps incarcerated parents from Cabarrus County to restore and strengthen relationships with their loved ones. FPC members can assist by donating gifts to children on behalf of their parents who are behind bars. We encourage folks to select an Angel tag/ornament from the Angel Tree this Sunday, November 11th or next Sunday, November 18th from the tree in the narthex. Our local theme this year is “Change a child’s life forever.” This program is a great way for us to answer the biblical call “to minister to the least of these.” All wrapped gifts should be returned to the Fellowship House before Monday, November 26th.
Thank you, The Board of Deacons
Wednesday Night Fellowship
Please join us on November 14th for a delicious meal and and our series on Faith Practices. This week we will focus on Community, and how community as more than just a nice idea. Together we will receive an invitation to remake our communities by bringing our gifts, our talents, and our ideas with us wherever we go. This program is kid-friendly, so bring the whole family! Please sign up online or in the church office by noon Monday, November 12th. Menu: meat and vegetable lasagna, salad, fruit, dessert.
Concord Christmas Parade
The annual Concord Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, November 17th from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. We encourage everyone to come out for this fun event. Our church provides assorted cookies, cocoa and lemonade free of charge as an outreach to the community. Bring blankets or chairs. There is plenty of open space to sit on the church grounds and enjoy fellowship while watching the parade.
We would welcome cookie donations. Store-bought or homemade are both great. If you would be able to bring two dozen cookies, please email Ashley Fischer at ashcun@gmail.com by Thursday before, so that we know about how many cookies to expect. You can drop off cookies, marked "The Christmas Parade," in the Fellowship House during church office hours or on Sunday morning. Also, we would welcome help to set-up, help to man the tables during the parade, and help with clean-up.
