A Note From Ellen
The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
~ Psalm 27:1, NRSV

Dear Friends,

I have seen repeated posts this week reminding me that it has been almost two years since the world shut down. I can still remember the very real fear that set in as churches, schools, government agencies, and businesses scrambled to figure out next steps, to make faithful decisions in the face of a looming pandemic. And now many of us are filled with joy and gratitude for the promise of a spring marked by reunions and celebrations unlike any we have enjoyed for two long years.

As we make our way into this new chapter, there are still those who are afraid, those for whom disease remains a real threat, those who now tremble in bunkers, those who have joined the ranks of too many refugees, too many of our siblings around the world who have been forced to leave home behind. I give thanks for the God who meets us in every fear-filled moment to remind us that we are not alone, and I pray that we as the body of Christ will continue to reflect the light, the grace, and the love of the One who has been and always will be our light for the way ahead.

Grace and peace,
Ellen

Masks Welcome: At their meeting on March 8, the session of FPC voted to make masks welcome on campus effective immediately. The session will continue to monitor public health guidelines and may vote to shift policies for FPC if needed in the future.
Lenten Study
A Lenten Study begins tonight in The Commons at 6:30 PM, led by Julie Hill, Temporary Associate Pastor.
 Lent in Plain Sight: A Devotion Through Ten Objects by Jill Duffield will be the basis of discussion. Pick up your book tonight when you come. A $10 donation is suggested.
Lent in Narnia
Our Middle and high school students are encouraged to join us for our second lesson on Lent in Narnia series in Room 304 in the Will Young Building at 9:45 AM on Sunday.

If you missed last week and have The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe movie or access to Disney Plus, please watch the first thirty-four minutes of the movie and you'll be in the perfect spot to jump into Sundays segment.
Releasing Regrets
Thank you to Elizabeth Anne for hosting us at Dover Vineyards for a fun and meaningful Youth Group on Sunday evening.

Our combined middle and high school group got the bonfire started and cooked their own hotdogs for dinner. Elizabeth Anne led our programming on spiritual practices during Lent. We were encouraged to think about what was separating us from God, and to write down any burdens that we are carrying, then drop them in the fire and let them go. We wrapped up the evening with s'mores and fellowship.

Please join us this week, back in Davis Hall: 4:30-5:30 PM for Middle School, 5:30-6 PM for dinner, 6-7 PM for high school.
Happy 110 Years of Girl Scouting!
On March 12, 1912, founder Juliette Gordon Low, held the first Girl Scout meeting in the United States in Savannah, GA. We will mark this anniversary on Sunday as the four Girl Scout troops sponsored by First Presbyterian Church join us in worship. The Girl Scouts invite you to a cookies and lemonade reception on the front lawn of the sanctuary following worship. They will host their final cookie booth of the season in the same location from 1-3 PM. All are invited to bring donations for the Blessing Box during worship and come to the cookie booth in the afternoon. The Girl Scout troops are using the donations to restock the Blessing Box during the month of March.
Confirmation
On Sunday, we welcomed Emerson Gray Lisk as a full member of First Presbyterian Church. Congratulations to each of our nineteen new members.

Friends Empowering Haiti
Actionnel Fleurisama, the founder of Friends of Empowering Haiti, (FEH), will be visiting our church on Sunday, March 20th, at 5:00 PM in Davis Hall. All members and their families are encouraged to come, to have the opportunity to meet Actionnel, to hear an update on the conditions of Haiti, and to learn more about the school programs and children from our ministry in Bayonnais, Haiti. If you currently sponsor a child in Bayonnais this is a good opportunity to hear about your child and their family. There will also be a chance to sponsor a child through EWO, EWO partners with Friends Empowering, by sponsoring children to be able to attend school. Haiti is the poorest country in the world and most families cannot afford to send their children to school. By sponsoring a child, you enable a child to attend school and to receive a meal each day.
