We welcome Ministry Intern
Bill Heran and his husband, Gabe Lau,
to
Holy Natvity.
We welcome Bill Heran as a ministry intern this year.
Bill is a therapist who specializes in addiction treatment. A former Jesuit, Bill currently is pursuing a call to ordination in the Episcopal Church. Bishop Bob FItzpatrick felt we would be a good match for Bill; we are delighted to have his help in pastoral care, preaching and teaching, as he learns from us, this year, as well.
Bill and his husband, Gabe Lau, have lived and worked in Hawai'i on-and-off for the last twenty years; they currently are relocating from Philadelphia. Gabe is a nuclear engineer and is eager to be a part of our Holy Nativity community, as well.
Welcome, Bill & Gabe!

Lion Dancing in the Court Yard,
Feb 5th
Holy Natvity School welcomed the Year of the Dragon in classic style. As the children lined up, the school was blessed, and many red envelopes fed two hungry Lions!

Camp Mokule'ia
Rev. Jenn attended the annual clergy retreat at Camp Mokuleia last week along with many clergy from the diocese and Bishop Bob Fitzpatrick (Pictured on the far right, with red runners!) .
It was a great time to make connections and find renewal in a special place.

Who will wear the Golden Halo?
by Lila Johnson
If this intrigues you, you might wish to join in with a growing number of Holy Nativity folks who participate annually in Lent Madness. Developed and nurtured by two Episcopal priests on the mainland, the Rev. Tim Schenck and the Rev. Scott Gunn, Lent Madness is a fun, engaging way to learn about the men and women comprising the Church’s Calendar of Saints.
This online activity began in 2010 and is a unique Lenten devotion which is not unlike a sports tournament with elimination brackets.
Right after Ash Wednesday, 32 saints are proposed to vie for the Golden Halo. Biographical information is provided first, and we are invited to continually select one saint from a pair in single elimination brackets over several rounds.
It really gets more interesting with each subsequent round!

Happy Year of the Dragon!
Represented by the only mythical, and the most powerful creature of the 12-animal Chinese zodiac, the Year of the Dragon is considered special.
As the luckiest and most auspicious of the 12 animals, the dragon is thought to signify unprecedented opportunities.
In a dragon year, people are said to be able to harness the creature’s intelligence, leadership and abilities to pursue their dreams with creativity, passion, courage and confidence.
