ALOHA Father Chris and Father George

On the Sunday after Christmas, Fr. Chris Bridges and Fr. George Clifford bid farewell to the Church of the Holy Nativity.  Fr. George reminded us that he had been Interim Rector as "bookends" at the beginning and the end of our 44-month hiatus without a permanent Rector.  He says he is retiring (but he seems to have a full calendar of commitments!)

Fr. Chris thanked the congregation for what he has learned about ministry while Deacon and Priest with Holy Nativity for a year and a half.  In January 2020 he becomes Priest in Charge at Epiphany Church in Kaimaki.

At the last worship service with us, Fr. George celebrated Holy Communion and Fr. Chris preached.  After the service, both clergy received numerous lei and were honored with a bountiful pot luck meal on the lanai. Aloha!

Welcome Reverend Libby

The help Rev. Libby come to know us, the Transition Committee would like to organize small pot luck gatherings- lunches, teas, dinners, etc.- as we did to welcome Rev. Rick Vinson. Would you be willing to host such a gathering? If so, let Bob Steele or Ed Moore know what kind and how many folks you could host. We will also have a sign up sheet in church. When we know, we will put out forms for parishioners to sign up for which event they would like to attend.

The Thrift Shop will be closed beginning Wednesday December 25, 2019  and reopening Wednesday January 8,  2020.
For more information please call the Thrift Shop at 808-373-3744

As promised in the earlier bulletins, here is #3 project of the Outreach plans. The Safety project. We are going to place Crosswalk Flags at several intersections near Holy Nativity Church along the Kalanianaole Highway. We already have the flags, and Jo Kendrick is busy making the bucket holder for them. These holders will hold flags reachable by children and adults, and will be at both ends of the crosswalks. We plan to place signs on the buckets saying that they are a gift from the congregation at H.N.C. We will have this up and running early in the New Year.
Anyone wanting to help with any of our outreach projects please contact Wyn Aubrey-Child or Jean Steele.

The Annual Meeting of Holy Nativity Church will be held January 26, 2020 after the 9am service at 1030am.

Who's in the Pew

Rich Miller arrived in Hawaii in 1980, courtesy of the US Navy, and that same day he met a young woman named Kim who would soon become his wife.  They were wed at Holy Nativity in 1982 and raised four children, three of whom attended our Holy Nativity School.  Rich is a retired Navy Captain, and three of his children are currently serving in the armed forces (the other is a fire fighter).  Rich is a partner in the Tom Petrus & Miller law firm.
Honolulu magazine just named Rich one of the best insurance lawyers in the state.  Rich serves on our parish Vestry and is also found ushering on some Sunday mornings.

Rich is unfailingly pleasant and greets everyone with a sunny smile.  Not an idle fellow, he completed the Honolulu Marathon a few weeks ago;  it was his 38th marathon!
His son Billy and daughter Jessica completed it with him.
