Green Team St. Francis Garden
Work Day
This Saturday, January 28,
8 am - 12 pm
Our Green Team will host a work day to trim and manage the St. Francis Garden.
If you can make it for an hour or more please let Rev. Jenn know (revjenn.hnc@gmail.com).
Many hands will make light work of the weeding, trimming, and updating of our lovely garden. When you arrive on Sunday, you may notice some differences so be assured that our work is ongoing with several phases. More opportunities to work in the garden will come in the future.
We hope you can join us on Saturday or another day soon!

Simeon
In February, HNS first graders will help lead our All School Chapel to celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple. Though an annual feast in our church, many may not be aware of the story
(Luke 2:22-40).
There arenʻt many stories of Jesus as a baby in the scriptures, and this is one. Mary and Joseph bring Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem, in keeping with Jewish law, to offer the appropriate sacrifice for their first born son. Arriving at the temple, they meet an old man named Simeon, who knows immediately that Jesus is special. The Holy Spirit has revealed to Simeon that he will live to see the one whom God has chosen to be the Messiah. Simeon knows that Jesus is the one. Taking Jesus into his arms, he praises God saying, “Lord, now you have set your servant free, to go in peace as you have promised.” Simeon recognizes Godʻs love in Jesus and gives thanks to God for the Messiah.
The Song of Simeon is a canticle included in our Book of Common Prayer for Morning Prayer and Compline. Simeonʻs words may speak to us, “Lord, now you have set your servant free,” when we learn that Godʻs love for us has come into the world in Jesus, our brother. Jesus reassures us that God is really and truly present in this world, and that God intends love and peace and justice for all of us, even if it feels far away. Jesus comes to be a light for the world, one that illuminates Godʻs presence in all places, people, and things.
May the light that Simeon recognized in Jesus bless you this week and into the days ahead.
Rev. Jenn.
