JOIN US FOR ANNUAL MEETING AS WE CELEBRATE THOSE FINISHING TERMS OF SERVICE AND WELCOME THOSE TAKING LEADERSHIP POSITIONS
Austin Nakoa, our very long-serving Senior Warden, and Joe Kindrich, our capable and dedicated Junior Warden in 2020, both will step down as of our Annual Meeting on this coming Sunday, Jan 31. Please join us in person or on "Zoom," to celebrate and thank both of them for their service. (Do bring leis!).
We welcome new leadership on January 31, as well. Rosemary Domecki will serve as Senior Warden, having said "yes" to Rev. Libby's invitation. Rosemary brings significant experience in business management and systems to her new ministry; we look forward to her leadership and counsel to the rector in 2021.
Justin Donahue has offered to stand for election as Junior Warden. Parish members also will elect parish delegates to Diocesan Convention and members of the vestry to fill open terms.
Thanks, in advance, to Alison Kittle for serving as Secretary at Annual Meeting and to Lila Johnson for serving as Parliamentarian. We look forward to a light-hearted and Spirit-filled time together!
WHO'S A-BOARD?
HNS SCHOOL BOARD CHAIRMAN SHANE PETERS
When Shane Peters was growing up, he was encouraged to go far away for college, to make the effort to broaden his horizons. When the plane landed in New York, Shane flagged a cab to take him to his college campus; he loaded his bags in the trunk and jumped in the vehicle. The apparently foreign-born cab driver eyed him in his rearview mirror. Then he asked Shane where he was from. Shane explained he was from Hawaii. The surprised cabbie asked Shane how he had learned to speak English so well!
Shane Peters joined our Holy Nativity School Board only a year ago and was soon elected chairperson. He is the father of HNS second grader, Maxwell, who is very artistic as well as musically inclined.
Shane brings fifteen years of experience in communications and marketing to his role. He founded Peters Communications in 2013. It is a communications and marketing consultancy. Shane is a graduate of Hawaii Prep and Sarah Lawrence College. He is past president of Hawaii Developers’ Council and former chair of Honolulu City & County’s Sustainable Building Task Force. Shane’s family has many members who have been active in community service. One grandmother, Hoaliku Drake, was the director of the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands while another, Agnes “Aunt Aggie” Cope, has been recognized as one of Hawaii’s Living Treasures. His mother, Ha’aheo Guanson, an Episcopal priest, serves in the Diocese’s Prison Ministry. His stepfather and two uncles have served in the State Legislature.
Shane is focusing the Board’s work on school governance, its long-term vision and its reliance on a sustainable model. The challenge of the rapidly changing environment prevailing today, he says, is to maintain stability, to operate with a steady hand. Parents need to know that their children are in a safe environment and that the highest academic standards are maintained.
Shane, thank you for your care, concern and deep service to Holy Nativity School!
AH, SHE LOOKS SO VERY HAPPY THERE, DOWN ON THE FARM!
The Molokai farmer who purchased our storage container sent a photo from its new location to Joe Kindrich. Looking good! (With thanks to Joe and others who helped make this transaction happen.)

KUPUNA WATCH IS BACK-TO-WORK!
With Holy Nativity School back in session as the third quarter begins, Kapuna Watch members Bill Seeley, Bob Steele, and Ed Moore done their masks and get ready to welcome all NHS students as the begin their day. Thanks for all you do, especially in this time when so few of us are able to see our kids in person!
