Some words on the St. Stephen's Shooting in Alabama on June 16, 2022.
I commend to you the message sent by our Bishop last Friday.
The prayer poem he shared by Fr. James Martin, S.J. is a reminder to me that when I am at a loss for what to do in the face of terrible suffering, prayer of lament to God is one thing I can do. The honesty that Fr. Martin expresses helps me know that I, too, can come to God authentically, with my emotions held up for Godʻs mercy and love.
May we all find authentic ways to approach our Father in difficult moments such as this.
observance culminates with a festive dinner celebration on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
The theme for this event is "Kapuakukui" and will honor the Rev. Canon David Kennedy, who has served as the Camp's Board Chair since 2016. Canon Kennedy's father, the Right Reverend Harry Kennedy, Bishop of The Episcopal Church in Hawai'i, founded Camp Mokule'ia 75 years ago.
Kapuakukui will also be the Camp's largest fundraiser for the year and will feature a local buffet, great entertainment, silent auction, and lots of fun activities.
Tickets for this event are now available, including sponsorships at three levels.
