A message from The Reverend Alison Dingley for Trinity Sunday
I'm rather an odd priest in a number of respects. One of them is that I love preaching on Trinity Sunday! That is why I asked Rev. Libby if I could preach this Sunday.
Most clergy I have known over the years hate preaching on the Trinity. I understand that. It is hard enough to get our heads around how we can believe in a God that is one but also three. Communicating that in a way that people can understand, or at least get a sense of is even more difficult.
I do love a challenge.
I also have grown to appreciate the rewards that come in grappling with the Trinity, what the early church thinkers were trying to understand - and fighting over, and how understanding God as Creator, Christ and Spirit can keep our faith continually growing and deepening. We cannot outgrow a God we cannot understand.
I hope you will join us in worship this Sunday at Holy Nativity or Zoom in if you cannot join us in person. Then let me know if my take on the Trinity speaks to you.
Mahalo
Kahu Alison
