Your Gift Makes a Difference!
When SCCH received a gift in 2024 from Holy Nativity, the executive director, Rachelle Chang reached out to us in a letter to let us know how appreciated our gift was, and how much good it did their clients.
Our gift of $4500 helped 74 men & women receive mental health care through 185 subsidized sessions with licensed counselors.
These counseling sessions help people to cope with anxiety, depression, separation anxiety, and feelings of hopelessness. Clients who come to SCCH are often underinsured or unable to afford co-pays. The gift from HNC helped SCCH improve access to needed mental health services, which helps people on their journey of healing.
Holy Nativity Church is proud to walk along side the Samaritan Counseling Center Hawai’i, and support all they do.
The full text of the letter is on the bulletin board outside the Nave.

A Message from Contemplative Outreach of Hawaii
You are invited to the deepening practice of Centering Prayer, a contemplative Christian prayer.
We meet each Tuesday afternoon at 4 PM in Monteiro Chapel. Our prayer is led by Carla Holt, a member of Contemplative Outreach of Hawaii and longtime Centering Prayer practitioner. Carla will offer a brief introduction to the method of Centering Prayer for those new to the practice.
Centering Prayer is based on The Cloud of Unknowing, written by an unknown author in the 14th century, to encourage a practitioner in silent prayer. The text is a spiritual guide on contemplative prayer. The modern method of Centering Prayer was developed in the 1970s. The name was taken from a description of contemplative prayer as “a 'return to the heart,' finding one's deepest center, awakening the profound depths of our being in the presence of God."
Over time, fruits of the practice can be a deepening connection with the divine and an increased sense of inner peace and calm.
If you have questions, feel free to drop in on a Tuesday and/or contact Rev. Libby at hncrector@gmail.com
