The Easter Vigil

was held at the Cathedral Church of St. Andrew's on Saturday evening.

The service began with the lighting of the "new fire" and the Paschal candle. The Rev. Bill Heran chanted the Exultat, traditionally sung by a deacon. Also pictured are the Dean of the Cathedral, the Very Rev. Heather Patton-Gtaham and the Rev. Andrew Arakawa, Canon for Ministry Formation. The service included adult baptisms, confirmations and receptions into the Episcopal Church.

On Easter Sunday, the sun shone brightly into our Holy Nativity nave, pictured at left and above. Rev. Libby preached and Rev. Jenn was our celebrant. Chandi Hinrichs and friends decorated the large cross with flowers, symbolizing the resurrection. After the service, eager keiki participated in an Easter egg hunt, seen below. Mahalo to Olesya and Olga Noerper and Jennifer Stikeleather for helping with the festivities!

On Tuesday in Easter Week,

Holy Nativity School held its Easter celebration at an all-school chapel led by the fifth grade (5G) class, pictured below, and Rev. Libby. The service included a dramatic reading of Jesus' appearing to two villagers on the "Road to Emmaus," a piano solo, and a choral version of the Lord's Prayer, all offered by members of 5G. The Rev. Canon Sandy Graham joined us from the bishop's office for the morning.
