A letter from Rev. Libby

Dear Holy Nativity ‘Ohana,

Rev Jenn and I attended our annual Clergy Conference last week on the island of Kaua’i. Our facilitator was the Rev. Rachel Taber-Hamilton, an indigenous priest from the Diocese of Olympia, who led us in reflection and conversation on the topic of transitions. She was a skilled facilitator, teaching us about the elements inherent in any transition and inviting us to fully experience our feelings and share what we felt was important to name out loud.

On the last day of our conference, Rev. Rachel invited the clergy to come forward, lay hands on Bishop Bob, and share in a prayer of blessing and thanksgiving for his ministry. They did the same for me, praying for our ministry in this new time. Both prayers moved me deeply. They also reminded me again that, at Holy Nativity, we also are in transition and that our time of being together as priest and people is coming to an end in mid-September and will be re-formed into something new.

I want you to know that I care deeply for you and for the ministries that we have shared over the last seven years. Thank you for calling me to be rector at a time when I was feeling a strong call to Hawai’i. Thank you for your bravery and full participation when we have tried new things! Thank you for your faithfulness when we have needed to make difficult decisions, with Jesus as our guide.

Holy Nativity is strong and healthy. With the leadership of Senior Warden Tusi Mayer and your Interim Priest and Chaplain, Rev. Jenn, I know you will continue to flourish. I look forward to celebrating our shared ministry on Sept 13 and, “God willing and the people consenting,” to serving as your bishop in the days to come!

With my deepest aloha, Rev. Libby+

Service Opportunity with Rev. Jenn - On Sept 12th

Rev. Jenn will be going to the Waimanālo Limu Hui gathering at Kaiona Beach Park in Waimanalo.

The workday starts at 8 a.m. with protocol and teaching (arrive early because parking can be tight).

The hui makes lei with limu and then distributes it into the ocean so it can re-establish.

No need to let Rev. Jenn know in advance if youʻll come - this is an opportunity to learn and be of service for all ages.
