News from St. Mark's,

Altedena, California

Dear Parish,

The outpouring of love and prayers for our colleagues affected by the wildfires has been truly inspiring. Thank you for asking, “How can we help?” and responding with generosity and commitment. Over 115 chaplains and mental health practitioners have stepped forward to provide pastoral care and counseling to administrators, teachers, and staff at Saint Mark’s, St. Matthew’s, and Gooden, demonstrating the incredible strength of our community.

At this time, the greatest need is financial support. You can contribute in the following ways:

  • Support the Diocese of Los Angeles’ One Body, One Spirit Annual Appeal, which will allocate every dollar toward institutions or individuals affected by the wildfires.

A Poetry Series with Dan Muenzer

Starting Sunday, February 2nd—at 10:45am, after coffee hour, and continuing for four consecutive Sundays.

“Epiphanies: Encountering Christ

through Poetry.”

Across the ages, poetry has been a privileged medium for visionary insight. How can it continue to serve that function in the 21st century?

We’ll take a look at some modern(ish) verse and examine how Christ, through the power of imagination, continues to transfigure our everyday realities, drawing them closer to the divine.

Meetings will take place in Monteiro Chapel, come as you are, no book needed.

Wednesday, Jan. 29. The celebration ends on
