Blessings of

Epiphany!

On January 6, we moved in our church year from the twelve days of Christmas into the season of Epiphany. One of my favorite seasons, Epiphany reminds us that Jesus came to everyone on earth. Mary, Joseph, and the Bethlehem shepherds got to see him first. But then came the Magi, following a star and trusting that something holy and precious would appear to them.

The Magi, we are told, came from many lands, far away from Palestine. As such, they represent all of us, all over the world, who speak different languages and share different cultural customs. The star drew the Magi to Bethlehem, where they experienced their epiphany. It so overwhelmed them that they could not help but go home and share the "Good News"!

In this season of Epiphany (which, in Greek, means "showing forth" or "appearing") may we find Jesus, again, in our own hearts--and then let the joy from it spill out into the world that needs it so much!

Christmas Services

at Holy Nativity

Christmas was a joyful time at Holy Nativity. At our Family Service at 5pm, Rev. Jenn invited all of the children and youth forward to join the altar for the Eucharistic Prayer. It was wonderful to see many of our young parishioners take the lead and help keiki who were visiting HNC to join them!

Our choir offered another lovely anthem, completing a set of beautiful music offered at the church throughout Advent and into Christmas. (Mahalo also to Kirin Hino, who shared a beautiful hula on Advent IV!)

A good number of visitors also joined us on Christmas Day at 10am. Again, those familiar with our Holy Nativity Church liturgy warmly welcomed and assisted those who were new or on holiday.

Mahalo to all HNC for your hospitality during this season. Happy New Year!

On December 20th, our own Alex Picken participated in a ballroom dance exhibition at the Ala Wai Golf Course Ballroom. Several friends from HNC were in attendance and enjoyed a terrific show.

Way to cut a rug, Alex!
