The Easter Vigil at the Cathedral Church of

St. Andrew

April 19, 2025 at 6pm

The Easter Vigil is the first, festive celebration of Easter in our Church. At this service, we literally light the "first fire" of this new season, and then process into the church for joyful hymns and Eucharist.

Holy Nativity Church has not held our own Easter Vigil service in some years. This year, on Saturday, April 19 at 6pm, we encourage Holy Nativity parishioners and friends to worship on that special evening at our Cathedral Church of St. Andrew, to learn about and enjoy the Vigil together.

At this year's Easter Vigil, there will be adult baptisms, which have been traditional since the time of the early church.

In addition, Bishop Bob will offer Confirmations and Receptions for those who have been baptized but wish to make a further affirmation of their

Christian faith.

If you have questions about and/or are interested in adult baptism, confirmation, or reception, please be in touch with Rev. Jenn or Rev. Libby.

We would be happy to talk with you!

5 Things Anyone Can Bring To The Potluck, While Leaving The Guilt At Home.

We want to encourage parishioners to please contribute to our ever popular coffee hour! A little nosh makes it even better! No need to sign up or commit, just bring what you can, when you can.

However, if bringing food to share is difficult, here are some things you can also do:

1. Bring a beverage!

Water, lemonade, ice tea, juice, seltzer, is relatively inexpensive, yet a nice alternative to coffee, and well enjoyed.

2. Pre-made/prepared/packaged food,

no problem!

No one is expecting home-made goodies from everyone, all the time; store-bought is great!

All offerings are appreciated and welcome.

3. Flowers or foliage to dress the table?

A little natural beauty makes everything better. If you have flowers or foliage in your yard, we'd love to see it.

4. Can’t bring anything? That’s okay!

What is your gift? Can you take pictures at the event (Athena would love this)? Can you sit with the person who came alone? Could you stay an extra 15 minutes to help clean up? This will be much appreciated!

5. If all else fails, bring a heart full of joy to the gathering.

Have intentional conversations, and build beautiful relationships.

Your time and attention are precious resources that only you can give.

REMINDERS

Once again Holy Nativity will participate in the annual "Lent Madness" event

We encourage you to join us in this online activity, not unlike a sports tournament, and follow its progress on our own giant bracket poster by the church bulletin board.

The event will begin right after Ash Wednesday when 32 saints are proposed to vie for the

Golden Halo. Through your email you will initially be provided with fascinating biographical information so you may vote every day during Lent. This process continues as you select one saint from a pair in single elimination brackets over five rounds.

To participate in Lent Madness 2025, you need to register at https://www.lentmadness.org
