Amazing Facts About Mothers!
Typically, the first sound a baby vocalizes is the 'ma' sound. So it makes sense that in almost every language, the word for mother begins with the letter 'M' or is some iteration of the 'ma' sound. .
Every female fetus including your mother, developed all the eggs she will ever have while a fetus herself still inside of her own mom's womb.
The fetal heart races faster when hearing its mother's voice vs. a stranger's voice. A mother's voice also eases older children's stress just as much as a real-life hug.
The sound of mom's voice lowers a child's stress hormone, cortisol, and raises their level of oxytocin, a hormone linked with love and bonding.
When a mother smiles at her baby the baby's heartbeat synchronizes with their mom's.
Approximately 122 million calls are made on the second Sunday of May and Mother's Day is the busiest day of the year for restaurants. So don't forget to give your mom a call or better yet - take her out to celebrate her!

Did you know...
That NAVE, the area of the church where the parishioners sit, is from the Latin, "ship."
In ecclesiastical art, the church is represented as a ship sailing toward heaven. Therefore, the parishioners are the sailors!
Our own Skye LeGros commented that the Nave's ceiling looks like an inverted ship's hull.

Cardinal Robert Prevost has been elected Pope:
He will take the name Pope Leo XIV*
Date of Birth: Sept. 14, 1955 (69 yrs)
Nationality: American (Chicago born) and Peruvian citizen since 2015 (first as a missionary and then as an archbishop)
Position: President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America under Pope Francis
Experience: Archbishop of Chiclayo, Peru; head of the Augustinian religious order
Pope Leo speaks English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese, and can read Latin and German.
Significantly, Pope Leo presided over one of the most revolutionary reforms Pope Francis made, when he added three women to the voting bloc that decides which bishop nominations to forward to the pope.
Pope Francis brought Robert Prevost to the Vatican in 2023 and made him a cardinal.
We join our Roman Catholic brothers and sisters in praying for Pope Leo XIV and his ministry across the globe.
