"Laying on of Hands"

When new priests are ordained, the community of priests joins the bishop in laying hands on and praying for the candidate.

On November 23, a group of women clergy gathered to share time and fellowship before the diocesan annual Convention. During the gathering, they surprised Rev. Jenn with a laying on of hands and a prayer of blessing because of the unusual ordination that she had in the summer of 2020.

Back in July of that year churches had many restrictions in place because of COVID. Ordinations had to adapt to these restrictions, meaning services were live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook, size limits were imposed, and social distancing

was practiced.

At Jenn’s ordination, only ten people were able to be in the sanctuary and only Bishop Alan Scarfe (Bishop of Iowa in 2020) was able to lay hands on Jenn during the consecration.

Normally the bishop and all priests present lay hands on the one being ordained. Because of COVID, the two priests who were in attendance held their hands out for the blessing,

but they were six feet away.

Rev. Jenn was touched by the care of her fellow women clergy, and blessed by their

blessing and prayer.

Columbarium Clean-Up Honors

"All Saints"

This past Sunday, 11/2, volunteers worked to clean up the niches and adorn the area with fresh flowers and plants.

A message from the day's coordinator,

Tusi Mayer:

The columbarium looks beautiful, peaceful and welcoming for all. We truly appreciate our volunteer's commitment to maintaining the dignity and serenity

of this sacred place.

We will continue the work of beautifying our columbarium every Sunday after church.

Your commitment of time and talent is truly appreciated. Thank you and God bless you all.

The HNC Columbarium still has single and double niche space available for parishioners. Please contact the office for more information at hncparish@gmail.com
