"You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:37-39)

At our September meeting, I asked our vestry to reflect on the "Two Great Commandments" passage in scripture.

Our conversation centered around the idea that loving our neighbor every day, both inside and beyond our community, is a true expression of loving God. We encouraged one another to continue the practices we mentioned that evening; I said I'd like to share the list with our Banyan Tree readers. We all agreed that these actions are simple, but that they can make a big difference, if we remember them:

"Take the time to really notice someone."

"Take a moment to wish someone a good day."

"Take the time to really listen to the person who is talking with you."

"Remember to offer a smile--and then a prayer!"
