JUNIOR NATIONAL QUALIFIER RACE

JANUARY 27TH & 28TH

Our partners, the VASA Ski Club, will host the Junior National Qualifier CXC race at Hickory Hills on January 27th & 28th. Races begin at Hickory Hills at 9 am on both Saturday and Sunday. The Junior National Qualifier provides junior racers an opportunity to engage in a high-level regional and national racing event, and enhance their U.S. Ski & Snowboard National Ranking to potentially make a Junior National team. The host destination for the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Junior National Championships is Lake Placid, NY in 2024.

The City's Nordic course at Hickory Hills was awarded a homologation certification by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) in November 2023. With this stamp of approval, Hickory Hills became the only homologated cross-country ski course in Michigan’s lower peninsula and joins two other homologated courses in Michigan, both in the Upper Peninsula: Ishpeming and Houghton. There are only 37 homologated courses in the United States.

Parking

A large crowd is expected at Hickory Hills for race attendance and viewing. With limited parking on site, we are encouraging carpooling by utilizing Lot Q at the Munson Campus.

Delayed Opening for Public

Both cross county and alpine will open to the public at 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Trees may be dropped off at the boat launch parking lot in Hull Park. The drop off site will be available through February 2, 2024.

TCFD PINNING CEREMONY

DID YOU KNOW....

A remarkable 66 years have passed since the Detroit Lions secured a playoff victory on the road, with the triumph taking place against the San Francisco 49ers in their own territory on December 22, 1957. This historic win not only marked the Lions' advancement to the 1957 NFL Championship Game but also stands as the last time the team claimed the title of NFL Champions.

As Michiganders eagerly anticipate this weekend's playoff showdown, the enduring spirit of the Lions continues to captivate fans. The team's resilience and determination against the odds serve as a testament to their enduring grit. In the collective hearts of the state, there's a unified cheer - Let's Go, Lions!
